The purpose of this paper is to revisit the response surface technique ridge analysis within the context of the “trust region” problem in numerical analysis. It is found that these two approaches inherently solve the same problem. We introduce the computational difficulty, termed the “hard case”, which originates in the trust region methods, also exists in ridge analysis but has never been formally discussed in response surface methodology (RSM). The dual response global optimization algorithm (DRSALG) based on the trust region method is applied (with a certain modification) to solving the ridge analysis problem. Some numerical comparisons against a general-purpose nonlinear optimization algorithm are illustrated in terms of examples appearing in the literature  相似文献

Adaptive designs of clinical trials are ethical alternatives when the traditional randomization becomes ethically infeasible in desperate medical situations. However, such a design creates a dependency among trial data and its statistical analysis becomes more complex than the analysis for traditional randomized clinical trials. In this article, we examine adaptive designs with dichotomous responses from two treatments and extend some commonly used statistical methods for independent data. Under a regularity condition, the estimated odds ratio and its logarithm are shown to follow asymptotically normal distributions. Moreover, the ordinary goodness-of-fit test statistic for two-by-two contingency tables with dependent data is shown to be asymptotically chi-square distributed. We also discuss the consistency of maximum likelihood estimators of the unknown parameters for a wide class of adaptive designs.  相似文献

In this paper, we propose a semiparametric method of estimating receiver operating characteristic (ROC) surfaces for continuous diagnostic tests under density ratio models. Implementation of our method is easy since the usual polytomous logistic regression procedures in many statistical software packages can be employed. A simulated example is provided to facilitate the implementation of our method. Simulation results show that the proposed semiparametric ROC surface estimator is more efficient than the nonparametric counterpart and the parametric counterpart whether the normality assumption of data holds or not. Moreover, some simulation results on the underlying semiparametric distribution function estimators are also reported. In addition, some discussions on the proposed method as well as analysis of a real data set are provided.  相似文献

In the paper surface processes are considered, i.e. sets of surfaces distributed at random in the space. For translation invariant surface processes the PALM distribution of the direction of the normal in a typical surface point is defined and related to two roses of intersection. Fibre and point processes are studied which result by intersections with planes and lines respectively. For these processes stereological formulas are proved which connect some quantities with such of the surface process. As a special ease motion invariant, i.e. translation invariant and isotropic, surface processes are treated, Furthermore, weighted surface processes are considered.  相似文献

Two kinds of sequential designs are proposed for finding the point that maximizes the probability of response assuming a binary response variable and a quadratic logistic regression model. One is a parametric optimal design approach, and the other one is a nonparametric stochastic approximation approach. The suggested sequential designs are evaluated and compared in a simulation study. In summary, the parametric approach performed very well whereas its competitor failed in some cases.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Games can be a powerful tool for learning about statistical methodology. Effective game design involves a fine balance between caricature and realism, to simultaneously illustrate salient concepts in a controlled setting and serve as a testament to real-world applicability. Striking that balance is particularly challenging in response surface and design domains, where real-world scenarios often play out over long time scales, during which theories are revised, model and inferential techniques are improved, and knowledge is updated. Here, I present a game, borrowing liberally from one first played over 40 years ago, which attempts to achieve that balance while reinforcing a cascade of topics in modern nonparametric response surfaces, sequential design, and optimization. The game embeds a blackbox simulation within a shiny app whose interface is designed to simulate a realistic information–availability setting, while offering a stimulating, competitive environment wherein students can try out new methodology, and ultimately appreciate its power and limitations. Interface, rules, timing with course material, and evaluation are described, along with a “case study” involving a cohort of students at Virginia Tech. 地形条件是影响区域人口分布和社会经济发展的主要因子之一。中国的县域地形起伏度呈西高东低、南高北低的空间格局,且以低值为主,50%以上的县域单元地形起伏度在1以下(绝对起伏不超过1 000m),较好地表达了我国地形呈三级阶梯分布的空间特征。2005年全国70%以上的人口居住在地形起伏度小于1的县域,经济发展向低起伏度地区明显集中,地形起伏度在1以下县域的GDP占2005年国内生产总值的85.41%,相对于人口分布,经济发展向低起伏度地区集中的趋势更加明显。  相似文献

In modern quality engineering, dual response surface methodology is a powerful tool to model an industrial process by using both the mean and the standard deviation of the measurements as the responses. The least squares method in regression is often used to estimate the coefficients in the mean and standard deviation models, and various decision criteria are proposed by researchers to find the optimal conditions. Based on the inherent hierarchical structure of the dual response problems, we propose a Bayesian hierarchical approach to model dual response surfaces. Such an approach is compared with two frequentist least squares methods by using two real data sets and simulated data.  相似文献
