ABSTRACT A new class of weighted signed-rank-based estimates for estimating the parameter vector of an autoregressive time series is considered. The Wilcoxon signed-rank estimate and the GR-estimates of Terpstra et al. (GR-Estimates for an Autoregressive Time Series. Statistics and Probability Letters 2001, 51, 165–172; Generalized Rank Estimates for an Autoregressive Time Series: A U-Statistic Approach. Statistical Inference for Stochastic Processes 2001, 4, 155–179) can be viewed as special cases of the so-called GSR-estimates. Asymptotic linearity properties are derived for the GSR-estimates. Based on these properties, and a symmetry assumption, the GSR-estimates are shown to be asymptotically normal at rate n 1/2. The theory of U-Statistics along with a characterization of weak dependence that is inherent in stationary AR(p) models are the primary tools used to obtain the results. Tests of hypotheses as well as standard errors for confidence interval procedures can be based on such results. An efficiency study indicates that, for an appropriately chosen set of weights, the GSR-estimate is more efficient than the GR-estimate. Furthermore, the GSR-estimate has an added advantage in that an intercept term can be estimated simultaneously; unlike the GR-estimate. Two examples and a small simulation study are used to illustrate the computational and robust aspects of the GSR-estimates. 相似文献

Abstract In this article we consider the problem of constructing confidence intervals for a linear regression model with unbalanced nested error structure. A popular approach is the likelihood-based method employed by PROC MIXED of SAS. In this article, we examine the ability of MIXED to produce confidence intervals that maintain the stated confidence coefficient. Our results suggest that intervals for the regression coefficients work well, but intervals for the variance component associated with the primary level cannot be recommended. Accordingly, we propose alternative methods for constructing confidence intervals on the primary level variance component. Computer simulation is used to compare the proposed methods. A numerical example and SAS code are provided to demonstrate the methods. 相似文献

Smoothed Gehan rank estimation methods are widely used in accelerated failure time (AFT) models with/without clusters. However, most methods are sensitive to outliers in the covariates. In order to solve this problem, we propose robust approaches based on the smoothed Gehan rank estimation methods for the AFT model, allowing for clusters by employing two different weight functions. Simulation studies show that the proposed methods outperform existing smoothed rank estimation methods regarding their biases and standard deviations when there are outliers in the covariates. In this paper we investigate the asymptotic critical value behaviour of certain multiple decision procedures as e.g. simultaneous confidence intervals and simultaneous as well as stepwise multiple test procedures. Supposing that n hypotheses or parameters of interest are under consideration we investigate the critical value behaviour when n increases. More specifically, we answer e.g. the question by which amount the lengths of confidence intervals increase when an additional parameter is added to the statistical analysis. Furthermore, critical values of different multiple decision procedures as for instance step-down and step-up procedures will be compared. Assignment of individuals to correct species or population of origin based on a comparison of allele profiles has in recent years become more accurate due to improvements in DNA marker technology. A method of assessing the error in such assignment problems is présentés. The method is based on the exact hypergeometric distributions of contingency tables conditioned on marginal totals. The result is a confidence region of fixed confidence level. This confidence level is calculable exactly in principle, and estimable very accurately by simulation, without knowledge of the true population allele frequencies. Various properties of these techniques are examined through application to several examples of actual DNA marker data and through simulation studies.
