We propose two test statistics for testing serial correlation in semiparametric varying-coefficient partially linear models. The proposed test statistics are not only for testing zero first-order serial correlation, but also for testing higher-order serial correlations. Under the null hypothesis of no serial correlation, the test statistics are shown to have asymptotic normal or chi-square distributions. By using R, some Monte Carlo experiments are conducted to examine the finite sample performances of the proposed tests. Simulation results show that the estimated size and power of the proposed tests behave well. 相似文献

This paper considers robust variable selection in semiparametric modeling for longitudinal data with an unspecified dependence structure. First, by basis spline approximation and using a general formulation to treat mean, median, quantile and robust mean regressions in one setting, we propose a weighted M-type regression estimator, which achieves robustness against outliers in both the response and covariates directions, and can accommodate heterogeneity, and the asymptotic properties are also established. Furthermore, a penalized weighted M-type estimator is proposed, which can do estimation and select relevant nonparametric and parametric components simultaneously, and robustly. Without any specification of error distribution and intra-subject dependence structure, the variable selection method works beautifully, including consistency in variable selection and oracle property in estimation. Simulation studies also confirm our method and theories. 相似文献

Abstract A simple method based on sliced inverse regression (SIR) is proposed to explore an effective dimension reduction (EDR) vector for the single index model. We avoid the principle component analysis step of the original SIR by using two sample mean vectors in two slices of the response variable and their difference vector. The theories become simpler, the method is equivalent to the multiple linear regression with dichotomized response, and the estimator can be expressed by a closed form, although the objective function might be an unknown nonlinear. It can be applied for the case when the number of covariates is large, and it requires no matrix operation or iterative calculation. 相似文献

This article proposes an extension of the log periodogram regression in perturbed long memory series that accounts for the added noise, while also allowing for correlation between signal and noise, a common situation in many economic and financial series. Consistency (for d < 1) and asymptotic normality (for d < 3/4) are shown with the same bandwidth restriction as required for the original log periodogram regression in a fully observable series, with the corresponding gain in asymptotic efficiency and faster convergence over competitors. Local Wald, Lagrange Multiplier, and Hausman type tests of the hypothesis of no correlation between the latent signal and noise are also proposed. 相似文献

Profiled adaptive Elastic-Net procedure for partially linear models with high-dimensional covariates 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
We study variable selection for partially linear models when the dimension of covariates diverges with the sample size. We combine the ideas of profiling and adaptive Elastic-Net. The resulting procedure has oracle properties and can handle collinearity well. A by-product is the uniform bound for the absolute difference between the profiled and original predictors. We further examine finite sample performance of the proposed procedure by simulation studies and analysis of a labor-market dataset for an illustration. 相似文献

Summary. We propose a semiparametric multilevel survival model for clustered duration data in which the effect of a continuous covariate is represented by an unspecified, possibly non-linear, function. This model makes no distributional assumption about the cluster level random effects. The performance of the method is assessed via Monte Carlo simulations. The model is applied in an analysis of first-birth intervals in Bangladesh to examine period effects in the timing of first births, while allowing for clustering within communities; the analysis reveals a non-linear trend in the first-birth interval over time. 相似文献

Robust statistics allows the distribution of the observations to be any member of a suitable neighborhood about an ideal model distribution. In this paper, the ideal models are semiparametric with finite-dimensional parameter of interest and a possibly infinite-dimensional nuisance parameter. In the asymptotic setup of shrinking neighborhoods, we derive and study the Hampel-type problem and the minmax MSE-problem. We show that, for all common types of neighborhood systems, the optimal influence function can be approximated by the optimal influence functions for certain parametric models. For general semiparametric regression models, we determine in case of error-in-variables and in case of error-free-variables.Finally, the results are applied to Cox regression where we compare our approach to that of Bednarski [1993. Robust estimation in Cox's regression model. Scand. J. Statist. 20, 213–225] in a small simulation study and on a real data set. 相似文献

Summary. We introduce a flexible marginal modelling approach for statistical inference for clustered and longitudinal data under minimal assumptions. This estimated estimating equations approach is semiparametric and the proposed models are fitted by quasi-likelihood regression, where the unknown marginal means are a function of the fixed effects linear predictor with unknown smooth link, and variance–covariance is an unknown smooth function of the marginal means. We propose to estimate the nonparametric link and variance–covariance functions via smoothing methods, whereas the regression parameters are obtained via the estimated estimating equations. These are score equations that contain nonparametric function estimates. The proposed estimated estimating equations approach is motivated by its flexibility and easy implementation. Moreover, if data follow a generalized linear mixed model, with either a specified or an unspecified distribution of random effects and link function, the model proposed emerges as the corresponding marginal (population-average) version and can be used to obtain inference for the fixed effects in the underlying generalized linear mixed model, without the need to specify any other components of this generalized linear mixed model. Among marginal models, the estimated estimating equations approach provides a flexible alternative to modelling with generalized estimating equations. Applications of estimated estimating equations include diagnostics and link selection. The asymptotic distribution of the proposed estimators for the model parameters is derived, enabling statistical inference. Practical illustrations include Poisson modelling of repeated epileptic seizure counts and simulations for clustered binomial responses. 相似文献

Summary. Consumption of pork that is contaminated with Salmonella is an important source of human salmonellosis world wide. To control and prevent salmonellosis, Belgian pig-herds with high Salmonella infection burden are encouraged to take part in a control programme supporting the implementation of control measures. The Belgian government decided that only the 10% of pig-herds with the highest Salmonella infection burden (denoted high risk herds) can participate. To identify these herds, serological data reported as sample-to-positive ratios (SP-ratios) are collected. However, SP-ratios have an extremely skewed distribution and are heavily subject to confounding seasonal and animal age effects. Therefore, we propose to identify the 10% high risk herds by using semiparametric quantile regression with P -splines. In particular, quantile curves of animal SP-ratios are estimated as a function of sampling time and animal age. Then, pigs are classified into low and high risk animals with high risk animals having an SP-ratio that is larger than the corresponding estimated upper quantile. Finally, for each herd, the number of high risk animals is calculated as well as the beta–binomial p -value reflecting the hypothesis that the Salmonella infection burden is higher in that herd compared with the other herds. The 10% pig-herds with the lowest p -values are then identified as high risk herds. In addition, since high risk herds are supported to implement control measures, a risk factor analysis is conducted by using binomial generalized linear mixed models to investigate factors that are associated with decreased or increased Salmonella infection burden. Finally, since the choice of a specific upper quantile is to a certain extent arbitrary, a sensitivity analysis is conducted comparing different choices of upper quantiles. 相似文献
