Tn optimal experimental design theory there are well-known situations, in which additional constraints are implied to the design set. These constraints destroy in general the simplex structure of the set of feasible points of the design set. Thus the available iteration procedures for the unrestricted case are no longer applicable.

In this paper a penalty approach is suggested which transforms the restricted problem to the unrestricted case and allows the application of well-known algorithms such as the Fedorov-Wynn-type or the projected gradient procedure.  相似文献

The paper reconsider certain estimators proposed by COHENand SACKROWITZ[Ann.Statist.(1974)2,1274-1282,Ann.Statist.4,1294]for the common mean of two normal distributions on the basis of independent samples of equal size from the two populations. It derives the ncecessary and sufficient condition for improvement over the first sample mean, under squared error loss, for any member of a class containing these. It shows that the estimator proposded by them for simultaneous improvement over botyh sample means has the desired property if and only if the common size of the samples is at least nine. The requirement is milder than that for any other estimator at the present state of knolwledge and may be constrasted with their result which implies the desired property of the estimator only if the common size of the samples is at least fifteen. Upper bounds for variances if the estimators derived by them are also improved  相似文献

Although there exists an ample literature on the tests of univariate symmetry, each article provides comparison of few selected competitors only. We are comparing the performance of 15 tests recommended in the literature and two new methods introduced by Auda (2006 Auda (Ouda), H. 2006. New Tests of Univariate Symmetry Based on the Gini Mean Difference, Kalamazoo, MI: Western Michigan University. Ph.D. thesis [Google Scholar]). One of them, rank-based test RS, compares favorably with several existing procedures in controlling the Type I error as well as in power as shown in our comprehensive simulation study. An important novelty in the article are Figs. 13 enabling comparison of Type I error probabilities and power of the 16 tests for 17 null and 19 alternative distributions.  相似文献

We consider a number of estimators of regression coefficients, all of generalized ridge, or 'shrinkage' type. Results of a simulation study indicate that with respect to two commonly used mean square error criteria, two ordinary ridge estimators, one proposed by Hoerl, Kennard and Baldwin, and the other introduced here, perform substantially better than both least squares and the other estimators discussed here  相似文献

It is often thought that regression data should be mean-centered before being diagnosed for collinearity (ill conditioning). This view is shown not generally to be correct. Such centering can mask elements of ill conditioning and produce meaningless and misleading collinearity diagnostics. Whereas large-sample properties of the estimators of survival distributions using censored data have been studied by many authors, exact results for small samples have been difficult to obtain. In this paper we obtain the exact expression for the ath moment (a > 0) of the Bayes estimator of survival distribution using the censored data under proportional hazard model. Using the exact expression we compute the exact mean, variance and MSE of the Bayes estimator. Also two estimators ofthe mean survival time based on the Kaplan-Meier estimator and the Bayes estimator are compared for small samples under proportional hazards.  相似文献

In this paper the generalized compound Rayleigh model, exhibiting flexible hazard rate, is high¬lighted. This makes it attractive for modelling survival times of patients showing characteristics of a random hazard rate. The Bayes estimators are derived for the parameters of this model and some survival time parameters from a right censored sample. This is done with respect to conjugate and discrete priors on the parameters of this model, under the squared error loss function, Varian's asymmetric linear-exponential (linex) loss function and a weighted linex loss function. The future survival time of a patient is estimated under these loss functions. A Monte Carlo simu¬lation procedure is used where closed form expressions of the estimators cannot be obtained. ABSTRACT

Split-plot designs have been utilized in factorial experiments with some factors applied to larger units and others to smaller units. Such designs with low aberration are preferred when the experimental size and the number of factors considered in both whole plot and subplot are determined. The minimum aberration split-plot designs can be obtained using either computer algorithms or the exhausted search. In this article, we propose a simple, easy-to-operate approach by using two ordered sequences of columns from two orthogonal arrays in obtaining minimum aberration split-plot designs for experiments of sizes 16 and 32.  相似文献
