The balanced half-sample and jackknife variance estimation techniques are used to estimate the variance of the combined ratio estimate. An empirical sampling study is conducted using computer-generated populations to investigate the variance, bias and mean square error of these variance estimators and results are compared to theoretical results derived elsewhere for the linear case. Results indicate that either the balanced half-sample or jackknife method may be used effectively for estimating the variance of the combined ratio estimate.  相似文献

This paper considers the problem of constructing optimal approximate designs when an independent variable might be censored. The problem is which design should be applied in practice to obtain the best approximate design when a censoring distribution is assumed known in advance. The approach for finite or continuous design spaces deserves different attention. In both cases, equivalent theorems and algorithms are provided in order to calculate optimal designs. Some examples illustrate this approach for D-optimality.  相似文献

We consider the problem of optimal experimental design in random coefficient regression models with respect to a quadratic loss function. By application of WHITTLE'S general equivalence theorem we obtain the structure of optimal designs. An alogrithm is given which allows, under certain assumptions, the construction of the information matrix of an optimal design. Moreover, we give conditions on the equivalence of optimal designs with respect to optimality criteria which are analogous to usual A-D- and _E/-optimality.  相似文献

Analyzing supersaturated designs is challenging because the number of experiments is less than the number of factors. In this article we propose a new contrasts based method to analyze supersaturated designs. The method is discussed and explained through some simulation examples. Adaptative designs for clinical trials that are based on a generalization of the “play-the-winner” rule are considered as an alternative to previously developed models. Definition of effects and calculation of sums of squares for various tests of hypotheses in unbalanced analysis of variance has been a topic of considerable interest for at least 10 years. Conceptually, these concerns apply to balanced cases as well. It is suggested that proceeding logically from highest-order effects to lowest-order effects in a careful fashion helps to resolve the difficulties pointed out by various writers, including those concerned about completely missing cells.  相似文献

Neighbor designs are useful to neutralize the neighbor effects. In literature, most of the constructed neighbor designs are in circular blocks but linear blocks have more practical application in field experiments. In this article, some infinite series of minimal neighbor designs are constructed in proper linear blocks. There are many situations where minimal neighbor designs cannot be constructed in proper linear blocks. To overcome this problem neighbor designs in improper linear blocks and GN2-designs in proper linear blocks are constructed.  相似文献

Repeated measurement designs are widely used in medicine, pharmacology, animal sciences and psychology. If there is a restriction on the total number of treatments, some experimental units can receive on the total length of time while some experimental units can remain in the trial, then repeated measurements designs with unequal period sizes should be used. In this article, some infinite series are developed to generate the minimal balanced repeated measurement designs in periods of three different sizes p1, p2 and p3, where 2?≤?p3?<?p2 ≤ 10 and p2?<?p1.  相似文献

Fourth order rotatable designs are discussed. A general k, design moment inequality is given. The variance function for two-factor designs is derived, and plotted for a specific design. A minimum point set requirement for two-factor designs is established, thus enabling one to form an infinity of such designs. Some difficulties in obtaining deLigns for k>2 are described. New analytic forms for distributions at the heart of internal pilot theory solve many problems inherent to current techniques for linear models with Gaussian errors. Internal pilot designs use a fraction of the data to re-estimate the error variance and modify the final sample size. Too small or too large a sample size caused by an incorrect planning variance can be avoided. However, the usual hypothesis test may need adjustment to control the Type I error rate. A bounding test achieves control of Type I error rate while providing most of the advantages of the unadjusted test. Unfortunately, the presence of both a doubly truncated and an untruncated chi-square random variable complicates the theory and computations. An expression for the density of the sum of the two chi-squares gives a simple form for the test statistic density. Examples illustrate that the new results make the bounding test practical by providing very stable, convergent, and much more accurate computations. Furthermore, the new computational methods are effectively never slower and usually much faster. All results apply to any univariate linear model with fixed predictors and Gaussian errors, with the t-test a special case.  相似文献
