This paper provides the modified likelihood ratio criterion for testing whether the mean of the inverse Gaussian distribution can be set to unity giving rise to Standard form of the Wald distribution. Estimates of probability of correct selection has been obtained on the basis of a Monte Carlo study of 1,000 samples. Finally a set of adaptive estimators for the parameters are proposed and studied on the basis of data generated from the two distributions.  相似文献

Zero-inflated Poisson mixed regression models are popular approaches to analyze clustered count data with excess zeros. Prior to application of these models, it is essential to examine the necessity of the adjustment for zero outcomes. The existing literature, however, has focused only on score tests for testing the suitability of zero-inflated models for correlated count data. In view of the observed bias and non-optimal size of score tests, it deserves further investigation of other alternative ways for the test. This article aims to explore the use of the null Wald and likelihood ratio tests for zero-inflation in correlated count data. Our simulation study shows that both the null Wald and likelihood ratio tests outperform the score test of Xiang et al. (2006 Xiang , L. , Lee , A. H. , Yau , K. K. W. , McLachlan , G. J. ( 2006 ). A score test for zero-inflation in correlated count data . Statistics in Medicine 25 : 16601671 . [Google Scholar]) in terms of statistical power, regardless of the computational convenience of the score test. A bootstrap null Wald statistic is also proposed, which results in improved performance in terms of the size and power of the test.  相似文献

We consider likelihood ratio, score and Wald tests for a three-way random effects ANOVA model. Competitor tests are compared using criteria such as small sample power, asymptotic relative efficiency, and convenient null distribution. The final choice is between a new test and two tests long used in practice.  相似文献

This paper develops a general method for constructing exactly similar tests based on the conditional distribution of nonpivotal statistics in a simultaneous equations model with normal errors and known reduced‐form covariance matrix. These tests are shown to be similar under weak‐instrument asymptotics when the reduced‐form covariance matrix is estimated and the errors are non‐normal. The conditional test based on the likelihood ratio statistic is particularly simple and has good power properties. Like the score test, it is optimal under the usual local‐to‐null asymptotics, but it has better power when identification is weak.  相似文献

Two-tailed asymptotic inferences for a proportion   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
This paper evaluates 29 methods for obtaining a two-sided confidence interval for a binomial proportion (16 of which are new proposals) and comes to the conclusion that: Wilson's classic method is only optimal for a confidence of 99%, although generally it can be applied when n≥50; for a confidence of 95% or 90%, the optimal method is the one based on the arcsine transformation (when this is applied to the data incremented by 0.5), which behaves in a very similar manner to Jeffreys’ Bayesian method. A simpler option, though not so good as those just mentioned, is the classic-adjusted Wald method of Agresti and Coull.  相似文献

This article shows the conditions under which endogeneity of a regressor variable does not affect threshold nonlinearity tests. Inference on the values of the parameters derived from standard statistics is also appropriate. Simulation techniques are used to approximate the p-value of the test. Monte Carlo simulations confirm the validity of Wald tests in the presence of endogeneity in the regressors.  相似文献

In this article, we consider the class of censored exponential regression models which is very useful for modeling lifetime data. Under a sequence of Pitman alternatives, the asymptotic expansions up to order n? 1/2 of the non null distribution functions of the likelihood ratio, Wald, Rao score, and gradient statistics are derive in this class of models. The non null asymptotic distribution functions of these statistics are obtained for testing a composite null hypothesis in the presence of nuisance parameters. The power of all four tests, which are equivalent to first order, are compared based on these non null asymptotic expansions. Furthermore, in order to compare the finite-sample performance of these tests in this class of models, we consider Monte Carlo simulations. We also present an empirical application for illustrative purposes.  相似文献

Breitung and Candelon (2006 Breitung , J. , Candelon , B. ( 2006 ). Testing for short- and long-run causality: A frequency-domain approach . Journal of Econometrics 132 : 363378 .[Crossref], [Web of Science ®] [Google Scholar]) in Journal of Econometrics proposed a simple statistical testing procedure for the noncausality hypothesis at a given frequency. In their paper, however, they reported some theoretical results indicating that their test severely suffers from quite low power when the noncausality hypothesis is tested at a frequency close to 0 or pi. This paper examines whether or not these results indicate their procedure is useless at such frequencies.  相似文献

We are occupied with an example concerning the limit theory of the ordinary least squares estimator (OLSE) when the innovation process of the regression has the form of a martingale transform the iid part of which lies in the domain of attraction of an α-stable distribution, the scaling sequence has a potentially diverging truncated α-moment, and the regressor process has a potentially divergent truncated second moment. We obtain matrix rates that reflect the stability parameter as well as the slow variations present in the aforementioned sequences, and stable limits. We also derive asymptotic exactness, consistency, and local asymptotic unbiasedness under appropriate local alternatives for a heteroskedasticity robust Wald test based on subsampling. The results could be useful for inference on the factor loadings in an instance of the APT model.  相似文献

In this paper we obtain asymptotic expansions, up to order n−1/2 and under a sequence of Pitman alternatives, for the nonnull distribution functions of the likelihood ratio, Wald, score and gradient test statistics in the class of symmetric linear regression models. This is a wide class of models which encompasses the t model and several other symmetric distributions with longer-than normal tails. The asymptotic distributions of all four statistics are obtained for testing a subset of regression parameters. Furthermore, in order to compare the finite-sample performance of these tests in this class of models, Monte Carlo simulations are presented. An empirical application to a real data set is considered for illustrative purposes.  相似文献
