Explorative Data Analysis and CATANOVA for Ordinal Variables: An Integrated Approach

Categorical analysis of variance (CATANOVA) is a statistical method designed to analyse variability between treatments of interest to the researcher. There are well-established links between CATANOVA and the τ statistic of Goodman and Kruskal which, for the purpose of the graphical identification of this variation, is partitioned using singular value decomposition for Non-Symmetrical Correspondence Analysis (NSCA) (D'Ambra & Lauro, 1989). The aim of this paper is to show a decomposition of the Between Sum of Squares (BSS), measured both in CATANOVA framework and in the statistic τ, into location, dispersion and higher order components. This decomposition has been developed using Emerson's orthogonal polynomials. Starting from this decomposition, a statistical test and a confidence circle have been calculated for each component and for each modality in which the BSS was decomposed, respectively. A Customer Satisfaction study has been considered to explain the methodology.     

Student Life in the Medieval Universities

Oral history research projects are assignments that can foster student engagement and learning in undergraduate survey history courses. However, existing scholarship indicates that these assignments are seldom used in undergraduate survey courses. Since the aims of undergraduate survey history courses are to satisfy graduation requirements, foster critical thinking skills, and provide options for potential major areas of study, there is a need to examine whether engaged learning strategies, such as oral history projects, can serve as a high-impact practice (HIP) in undergraduate history courses. With these premises in mind, the purpose of this action research study is to evaluate whether my five-step oral history research project could serve as a HIP in the undergraduate history survey courses I taught at a two-year college located in metropolitan region of the Southeast. Major findings indicate that oral history research projects can be considered a HIP when grounded in pedagogies that emphasize community-based field work that encourage students to consider diverse perspectives on topics and make real-world connections to content and experiential knowledge.

Public Attitudes Toward Reporting Partner Violence Against Women and Reporting Behavior

Drawing from attitude‐behavior research tradition, this study used a national probabilistic sample of the Spanish adult population (N= 2,432) to test hypotheses regarding correlates of public attitudes toward reporting partner violence against women, and the relationship between attitudes toward reporting and actual reporting behavior. Results show the importance of several correlates of public attitudes toward reporting. Also, our results have suggested a potential disconnect between attitudes and behavior because failure to intervene appears to be a common response of those aware of incidents of partner violence against women.

近五年来,出现了“张居正研究热”,有关论著明显增加,主要涉及到张居正改革、张居正的人生悲剧、学术思想及比较研究等。近年来的研究取得了一些成绩,也一些不足之处。     

大学生心理健康教育调研报告

通过大学生对心理健康教育的认识、了解、参与、需求、期望以及面对心理问题如何处理等方面进行调查,了解高校心理健康教育的现状;并就心理健康教育的对象、体制、内容、形式进行分析。在此基础上提出加强师资队伍建设,完善教育形式,建立预警系统,重视社团作用等切实可行的建议。
