The performance of computationally inexpensive model selection criteria in the context of tree-structured subgroup analysis is investigated. It is shown through simulation that no single model selection criterion exhibits a uniformly superior performance over a wide range of scenarios. Therefore, a two-stage approach for model selection is proposed and shown to perform satisfactorily. Applied example of subgroup analysis is presented. Problems associated with tree-structured subgroup analysis are discussed and practical solutions are suggested.  相似文献

Recently, progressively Type II censored samples have attracted attention in the study and analysis of life-testing data. Here we propose an indirect approach for computing the Fisher information (FI) in progressively Type II censored samples that simplifies the calculations. Some recurrence relations for the FI in progressively Type II censored samples are derived that facilitate the FI computation using the proposed decomposition. This paper presents a standard recurrence relation that simplifies computation of the FI in progressively Type II censored samples to a sum; FI in collections order statistics (OS). We compute the FI in a collections of progressively Type II censored samples for some known distributions.  相似文献

Left censoring concept has been defined in different ways in statistical applications. Turnbull (1974 Turnbull , B. W. ( 1974 ). Nonparametric estimation of a survivorship function with doubly censored data . J. Amer. Statist. Assoc. 69 : 169173 .[Taylor & Francis Online], [Web of Science ®] [Google Scholar]) defines it in a particular way. Whereas in recent literature, especially in epidemiological studies, it has been defined in another way. This difference between the two approaches is the main reason that despite simplicity, Turnbull method cannot be applicable in all cases of doubly censored data. In this article we present a modified Turnbull method for analysis of doubly censored data adequate with recent definition. Comparison has been done with other statistical methods, including imputation estimator, full likelihood-based and conditional likelihood-based approach using Iranian HIV data.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Competing risks data are common in medical research in which lifetime of individuals can be classified in terms of causes of failure. In survival or reliability studies, it is common that the patients (objects) are subjected to both left censoring and right censoring, which is refereed as double censoring. The analysis of doubly censored competing risks data in presence of covariates is the objective of this study. We propose a proportional hazards model for the analysis of doubly censored competing risks data, using the hazard rate functions of Gray (1988 Gray, R.J. (1988). A class of k-sample tests for comparing the cumulative incidence of a competing risk. Ann. Statist. 16:11411154.[Crossref], [Web of Science ®] [Google Scholar]), while focusing upon one major cause of failure. We derive estimators for regression parameter vector and cumulative baseline cause specific hazard rate function. Asymptotic properties of the estimators are discussed. A simulation study is conducted to assess the finite sample behavior of the proposed estimators. We illustrate the method using a real life doubly censored competing risks data.  相似文献

Abstract

The aim of this paper is to investigate how some results related to the complex normal distribution are relevant in size and shape analysis. Our main focus is on the derivation of influential measures. In particular, Cook and Kullback–Leibler distances are combined with their respective asymptotic results as well as to an alternative process of defining cut-off points. Some numerical examples illustrate how these measures are used in practice. We perform an application to simulated and actual data. Results provide evidence that the methodology based on Kullback–Leibler distance outperforms one in terms of the Cook classic distance.  相似文献

The Cramér-Rao lower bounds for the variances of unbiased estimators based on censored data are given. Useful techniques of evaluation are then derived for these lower bounds. Examples are given to illustrate these techniques. Small-sample comparisons are made between the resulting lower bounds, the variances of the best linear unbiased estimators, and the variances of unbiased esti-mators which are based on the maximum likelihood estimators.  相似文献

Kaplan and Meier (1958) give a maximum likelihood estimator of the distribution function based on a univariate right censored sample-Here we investigate the extension of their results to the case of bivariate right censored samples. Following Efron (1967), we provide "self-consistent" estimators for the bivariate distribution function.  相似文献

Two nonparametric estimators o f the survival distributionare discussed. The estimators were proposed by Kaplan and Meier (1958) and Breslow (1972) and are applicable when dealing with censored data. It is known that they are asymptotically unbiased and uniformly strongly consistent, and when properly normalized that they converge weakly to the same Gaussian process. In this paper, the properties of the estimators are carefully inspected in small or moderate samples. The Breslow estimator, a shrinkage version of the Kaplan-Meier, nearly always has the smaller mean square error (MSE) whenever the truesurvival probabilityis at least 0.20, but has considerably larger MSE than the Kaplan-Meier estimator when the survivalprobability is near zero.  相似文献

Let x be a random variable having the normal distribution with mean μ and variance c2μ2, where c is a known constant. The maximum likelihood estimation of μ when the lowest r1 and the highest r2 sample values censored have been given the asymptotic variance of the maximum likelihood estimator is obtained.  相似文献
