Information in experiments and sufficiency

We define measures of information contained in an experiment which are by-products of the parametric measures of Fisher, Vajda, Mathai and Boekee and the non-parametric measures of Bhattacharyya, Rényi, Matusita, Kagan and Csiszár. We use these measures to compare sufficient experiments according to Blackwell's definition. In particular, we prove that if δ_X and δ_Y are two experiments and δ_X≥δ_Y then l_X≥l_y for all of the above measures.     

The Bubble Game: An Experimental Study of Speculation

We propose a bubble game that involves sequential trading of an asset commonly known to be valueless. Because no trader is ever sure to be last in the market sequence, the game allows for a bubble at the Nash equilibrium when there is no cap on the maximum price. We run experiments both with and without a price cap. Structural estimation of behavioral game theory models suggests that quantal responses and analogy‐based expectations are important drivers of speculation.     

虚拟课堂在体育课程教学中的应用

本研究利用“虚拟课堂”针对体育课程教学进行实践教学探索,试图整合体育虚拟教学课堂教学资源。为提高体育课堂教学手段和方法提供有益参考和借鉴。探讨体育课程中实现虚拟课堂的可行性及必要性;探索体育课程实现虚拟课堂理论基础、设计与构建原则。结论：在体育课程中进行“虚拟课堂”的方式教学具有提高学习兴趣、改善动作质量、预防运动损伤、提高学生心理健康和丰富教学手段等效果．具有实现的可行性和必要性。     

计算机网络环境下大学英语教学生态分析简

计算机网络的普及为传统外语教学的发展带采了机遇与挑战,二者有机结合顺应了时代发展的客观趋势。本文以佳木斯大学为研究对象,观察评价该校在计算机网络环境下大学英语教学发展现状,总结发展中的失调表现,从教育生态学视角对失调加以分析,并指出我国大学英语教学应实现生态化健康发展。     

A Bayesian Meta-Modeling Approach for Gaussian Stochastic Process Models Using a Non Informative Prior

In this article, an efficient Bayesian meta-modeling approach is proposed for Gaussian stochastic process models in computer experiments. Different prior densities and particularly, a non informative hyper prior have been employed on the parameters involved in the correlation matrix. And the estimation of related parameters is obtained by the expectation-maximization algorithm. Compared with the recent work of Li and Sudjianto (2005 Li , R. , Sudjianto , A. ( 2005 ). Analysis of computer experiments using penalized likelihood in Kriging models . Technometrics 47 : 111 – 120 .[Taylor & Francis Online], [Web of Science ®] , [Google Scholar]), the proposed approach is not only of higher prediction accuracy but also of lower computational cost, due to the utilization of the non informative prior and the absence of tuning parameters. Experimental results demonstrate that our approach yields state-of-the-art performance.     

Asymptotic Properties and Variance Estimators of the M-quantile Regression Coefficients Estimators

M-quantile regression is defined as a “quantile-like” generalization of robust regression based on influence functions. This article outlines asymptotic properties for the M-quantile regression coefficients estimators in the case of i.i.d. data with stochastic regressors, paying attention to adjustments due to the first-step scale estimation. A variance estimator of the M-quantile regression coefficients based on the sandwich approach is proposed. Empirical results show that this estimator appears to perform well under different simulated scenarios. The sandwich estimator is applied in the small area estimation context for the estimation of the mean squared error of an estimator for the small area means. The results obtained improve previous findings, especially in the case of heteroskedastic data.     

A modal method for generating binomial variables

The paper considers the problem of generating binomial random variables when the parameters n and p may vary from call to call (as in the generation of multinomial random variables), A new algorithm, based on sequentially searching alternately down and up from the modal probability, is introduced. This is easy to program and requires no special library facilities It is suitable for microcomputers as well as mainframes Some sample timings are given for a FORTRAN 7 7 implementation     

A simple method for constructing confounded designs for mixed factorial experiments
