Failure time data occur in many areas and in various censoring forms and many models have been proposed for their regression analysis such as the proportional hazards model and the proportional odds model. Another choice that has been discussed in the literature is a general class of semiparmetric transformation models, which include the two models above and many others as special cases. In this paper, we consider this class of models when one faces a general type of censored data, case K informatively interval-censored data, for which there does not seem to exist an established inference procedure. For the problem, we present a two-step estimation procedure that is quite flexible and can be easily implemented, and the consistency and asymptotic normality of the proposed estimators of regression parameters are established. In addition, an extensive simulation study is conducted and suggests that the proposed procedure works well for practical situations. An application is also provided.  相似文献

Quantile regression (QR) is a natural alternative for depicting the impact of covariates on the conditional distributions of a outcome variable instead of the mean. In this paper, we investigate Bayesian regularized QR for the linear models with autoregressive errors. LASSO-penalized type priors are forced on regression coefficients and autoregressive parameters of the model. Gibbs sampler algorithm is employed to draw the full posterior distributions of unknown parameters. Finally, the proposed procedures are illustrated by some simulation studies and applied to a real data analysis of the electricity consumption.  相似文献

Abstract. Longitudinal data frequently occur in many studies, and longitudinal responses may be correlated with observation times. In this paper, we propose a new joint modelling for the analysis of longitudinal data with time‐dependent covariates and possibly informative observation times via two latent variables. For inference about regression parameters, estimating equation approaches are developed and asymptotic properties of the proposed estimators are established. In addition, a lack‐of‐fit test is presented for assessing the adequacy of the model. The proposed method performs well in finite‐sample simulation studies, and an application to a bladder tumour study is provided.  相似文献

Statistical models for recurrent events are of great interest in repairable systems reliability and maintenance. The adopted model under minimal repair maintenance is frequently a nonhomogeneous Poisson process with the power law process (PLP) intensity function. Although inference for the PLP is generally based on maximum likelihood theory, some advantages of the Bayesian approach have been reported in the literature. In this paper it is proposed that the PLP intensity be reparametrized in terms of (β,η), where β is the elasticity of the mean number of events with respect to time and η is the mean number of events for the period in which the system was actually observed. It is shown that β and η are orthogonal and that the likelihood becomes proportional to a product of gamma densities. Therefore, the family of natural conjugate priors is also a product of gammas. The idea is extended to the case that several realizations of the same PLP are observed along overlapping periods of time. Some Monte Carlo simulations are provided to study the frequentist behavior of the Bayesian estimates and to compare them with the maximum likelihood estimates. The results are applied to a real problem concerning the determination of the optimal periodicity of preventive maintenance for a set of power transformers. Prior distributions are elicited for β and η based on their operational interpretation and engineering expertise.  相似文献

We find that Epstein's (2010) Ellsberg‐style thought experiments pose, contrary to his claims, no paradox or difficulty for the smooth ambiguity model of decision making under uncertainty developed by Klibanoff, Marinacci, and Mukerji (2005). Not only are the thought experiments naturally handled by the smooth ambiguity model, but our reanalysis shows that they highlight some of its strengths compared to models such as the maxmin expected utility model (Gilboa and Schmeidler (1989)). In particular, these examples pose no challenge to the model's foundations—interpretation of the model as affording a separation of ambiguity and ambiguity attitude or the potential for calibrating ambiguity attitude in the model.  相似文献

Whilst innovative Bayesian approaches are increasingly used in clinical studies, in the preclinical area Bayesian methods appear to be rarely used in the reporting of pharmacology data. This is particularly surprising in the context of regularly repeated in vivo studies where there is a considerable amount of data from historical control groups, which has potential value. This paper describes our experience with introducing Bayesian analysis for such studies using a Bayesian meta‐analytic predictive approach. This leads naturally either to an informative prior for a control group as part of a full Bayesian analysis of the next study or using a predictive distribution to replace a control group entirely. We use quality control charts to illustrate study‐to‐study variation to the scientists and describe informative priors in terms of their approximate effective numbers of animals. We describe two case studies of animal models: the lipopolysaccharide‐induced cytokine release model used in inflammation and the novel object recognition model used to screen cognitive enhancers, both of which show the advantage of a Bayesian approach over the standard frequentist analysis. We conclude that using Bayesian methods in stable repeated in vivo studies can result in a more effective use of animals, either by reducing the total number of animals used or by increasing the precision of key treatment differences. This will lead to clearer results and supports the “3Rs initiative” to Refine, Reduce and Replace animals in research. Copyright © 2016 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

In this paper, the Bayesian approach is applied to the estimation problem in the case of step stress partially accelerated life tests with two stress levels and type-I censoring. Gompertz distribution is considered as a lifetime model. The posterior means and posterior variances are derived using the squared-error loss function. The Bayes estimates cannot be obtained in explicit forms. Approximate Bayes estimates are computed using the method of Lindley [D.V. Lindley, Approximate Bayesian methods, Trabajos Estadistica 31 (1980), pp. 223–237]. The advantage of this proposed method is shown. The approximate Bayes estimates obtained under the assumption of non-informative priors are compared with their maximum likelihood counterparts using Monte Carlo simulation.  相似文献

University first-year students grades are naturally correlated with the scores obtained at placement tests. Often this characteristic leads the university grades in the first exams to be asymmetrically distributed. Motivated by the analysis of grades of the basic Statistics examination of first-year students, we discuss informative priors for the shape parameter of the skew-normal model, a class of distribution which account for several degree of asymmetry. Our proposed prior leads to closed-form full-conditional posterior distributions, particularly useful in Markov Chain Monte Carlo simulation. A Gibbs sampling algorithm is discussed for the joint vector of parameters and the method is applied to a real data set from the School of Economics, University of Padua, Italy. Our analysis reveals that the correlation between the placement test and the grades of first-year students leads to a measurable positive skewness of the distribution of the university grades.  相似文献
