Analyzing multivariate longitudinal binary data: A generalized estimating equations approach

The authors consider regression analysis for binary data collected repeatedly over time on members of numerous small clusters of individuals sharing a common random effect that induces dependence among them. They propose a mixed model that can accommodate both these structural and longitudinal dependencies. They estimate the parameters of the model consistently and efficiently using generalized estimating equations. They show through simulations that their approach yields significant gains in mean squared error when estimating the random effects variance and the longitudinal correlations, while providing estimates of the fixed effects that are just as precise as under a generalized penalized quasi‐likelihood approach. Their method is illustrated using smoking prevention data.

PWPM信号的功率谱研究

对脉冲宽度、位置联合调制(pulse width and position modulation)简称 PWPM 方式的随机信号序列功率谱进行了研究,文献[1]的理论结果显示 PWPM 随机信号序列功率谱中存在符号(symbol)同步信号离散谱成分,这有利于在接收端正确接收 PWPM 信号.用计算机模拟估计了 PWPM 随机信号序列的功率谱.其结果也表明了 symbol 同步信号的存在.     

Adapting the jury trial for program evaluation: A report of an experience

A portion of the graduate program in clinical community psychology at SUNY Buffalo was subjected to a jury trial as a form of program evaluation. The theory of the trial as evaluation, the problems of implementation, and a posttrial evaluation are discussed. The trial, while time-consuming, especially in its pretrial phases, has the potential for presenting a dramatic picture of a program through the medium of human testimony. The jury was able to arrive at clear decisions on questions put to it, with a high degree of confidence. Decision makers accepted some of the jury's conclusions, and subjective evidence suggests that many of the controversial issues which generated the trial were resolved for the group by the procedure. The posttrial evaluation revealed limitations, such as evidence which was not presented at the trial. The experience proved useful for purposes of interdisciplinary education, providing another lens through which the evaluation problem could be viewed.

包庇、纵容黑社会性质组织罪的客体既侵害了社会治安管理秩序 ,又侵犯了国家机关惩治黑社会性质组织的正常活动 ;客观方面表现为包庇黑社会性质组织或者实施纵容黑社会性质组织违法犯罪活动的行为 ,包庇、纵容行为限于事后行为 ;主体为没有参与所包庇、纵容黑社会性质组织的国家机关工作人员 ;主观方面可以是直接故意 ,也可是间接故意。在司法适用时应注意区分罪与非罪、此罪与彼罪的界限 ,以及正确适用剥夺政治权利附加刑和准确理解“情节严重”的含义。     

Inferences Concerning Exponential Distributions in the Presence of Randomly Right Censored Data with Missing Censored Values

Inferences concerning exponential distributions are considered from a sampling theory viewpoint when the data are randomly right censored and the censored values are missing. Both one-sample and m-sample (m 2) problems are considered. Likelihood functions are obtained for situations in which the censoring mechanism is informative which leads to natural and intuitively appealing estimators of the unknown proportions of censored observations. For testing hypotheses about the unknown parameters, three well-known test statistics, namely, likelihood ratio test, score test, and Wald-type test are considered.
