首先,使用多通道声发射检测仪PAC SAMOS-48检测在用2000m3二甲醚球形储罐,判定出该设备存在表面裂纹缺陷及其所处位置。然后,采用超声波检测方法,确定了裂纹形状和大小。用Newman—Raju方法研究了表征裂纹缺陷前沿应力场以及位移场的重要参量即应力强度因子,并利用ANSYS建立简化的有限元模型,最终得到裂纹的应力云图和该裂纹前沿应力强度因子值,与工程估算方法得到的数值进行对比,结果表明有限元方法应用于压力容器缺陷的分析是适用的。

The certification test for English teachers in a certain state asked candidates to identify the name of the frog in Mark Twain's "The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County." If students answered this question correctly and said, Dan'l Webster, does this mean that these students would be prepared for the teaching field? Conversely, if students answered this question incorrectly, does this mean they were ill - prepared for becoming teachers? Can such an irrelevant question really point to the knowledge and abilities of future teachers? Hardly, use of unimportant questioning such as this illustrates the main problem with using a multiple choice format when assessing students. Trivial items such as names of animals and other insignificant information are often given priority over their significance in the story simply because students are not able to demonstrate what they really know in narrative form (Smagorinsky, 2002).

本文利用实证研究的方法,以江苏省的6个县(市)16个镇32个村161户种植经济作物农户的实地调查数据为依据,运用描述性统计、聚类分层和多元Logit模型分析了不同特征和禀赋的农户在选择农技服务时的需求意愿及影响因素.研究结果表明,农户在技术服务的选择上,仍优先考虑产前和产中技术,较少考虑供销信息和加工贮存等产后技术,特别是病虫害防治技术服务成为第一需求,反映了近几年农作物病虫害危害的严重性.影响农户选择技术服务的因素除了农户自身特征和土地禀赋等一般变量外,培训是激活农民技术服务需求的重要因素.

Four Public Declarations of the Revolutionary Period

In our complex, interdependent world, it is critical that educators prepare students for global citizenship. One way to develop students’ awareness and understanding of the world is through global literature. Through exposure to this type of literature, students gain multiple perspectives and learn about the social, political, and moral conditions under which people around the world live. They also develop respect and understanding of socially and politically oppressed peoples and learn why it is important to promote social justice. The authors discuss global literature for elementary students and describe an example of a lesson taught in a third-grade classroom using these books. Finally, the authors share the outcomes of the lesson based on their observations and analysis of the students’ oral responses and written reflections.

Statistical analysis of a two-unit dependent repairable system

Maximum likelihood estimators are investigated a for lr-out-of 2:G repairable system when failures and repairs are statistically dependent. Under two censoring schemes Accelerated Life Testing Procedure (ALTP) is used to obtain the estimates. Information matrices are supplied and a special case when the failure and repair phenomenon are independent of each other is considered.     

How to Teach by the Unit Method

Using data from the National Center for Educational Statistics research spanning fifteen years, researchers examined the impact of national educational policy implementation on the role of social studies in elementary schools. Specifically, with the reauthorization of No Child Left Behind (NCLB) in 2007 and the continuation of federal-mandated testing of English language arts (ELA) and mathematics in grades three through five, researchers sought to understand how policy decisions to extend testing to science affected teacher decisions in regard to instructional time allocations for core subject areas of ELA, mathematics, science, and social studies in elementary schools. Results of this quantitative study offer large-scale evidence of the declining role of social studies in an era in which testing is clearly linked to subject-area importance. Findings provide an overview of the national scope of testing and the ramifications for social studies in elementary schools. Researchers conclude that curriculum standardization, accountability, and high-stakes testing have had adverse affects on social studies time allotments in comparison to tested subjects.     

Examining the robustness of fully synthetic data techniques for data with binary variables

There is a growing demand for public use data while at the same time there are increasing concerns about the privacy of personal information. One proposed method for accomplishing both goals is to release data sets that do not contain real values but yield the same inferences as the actual data. The idea is to view confidential data as missing and use multiple imputation techniques to create synthetic data sets. In this article, we compare techniques for creating synthetic data sets in simple scenarios with a binary variable.
