This paper considers regression analysis of multivariate panel count data with the focus on variable selection and estimation of significant covariate effects. For the problem, we adopt the penalized estimating equation approach with a focus on the use of the seamless‐$L_0$ penalty. The proposed approach selects variables and estimates regression coefficients simultaneously and the asymptotic properties of the resulting estimates are established. The procedure can be easily carried out with the Newton–Raphson algorithm and is evaluated by simulation studies. Also it is applied to a motivating data set arising from a skin cancer study. Empirical likelihood ratio confidence regions based on the chi-square calibration suffer from an undercoverage problem in that their actual coverage levels tend to be lower than the nominal levels. The finite sample distribution of the empirical log-likelihood ratio is recognized to have a mixture structure with a continuous component on [0, + ∞) and a point mass at + ∞. The undercoverage problem of the Chi-square calibration is partly due to its use of the continuous Chi-square distribution to approximate the mixture distribution of the empirical log-likelihood ratio. In this article, we propose two new methods of calibration which will take advantage of the mixture structure; we construct two new mixture distributions by using the F and chi-square distributions and use these to approximate the mixture distributions of the empirical log-likelihood ratio. The new methods of calibration are asymptotically equivalent to the chi-square calibration. But the new methods, in particular the F mixture based method, can be substantially more accurate than the chi-square calibration for small and moderately large sample sizes. The new methods are also as easy to use as the chi-square calibration.  相似文献

In this article, we study the detection of multiple change points of parameters of generalized lambda distributions (GLD). The advantage of studying GLD is that the GLD family is broad and flexible. Compared to the other distributions, there are fewer restrictions on the distribution while fitting data. We combine the binary segmentation procedure together with the Schwarz information criterion (SIC) to search for all possible change points in the data. The method is applied on fibroblast cancer cell line data which is publicly available, and the change points are successfully located.  相似文献

In recent years, statistical process control (SPC) of multivariate and autocorrelated processes has received a great deal of attention. Modern manufacturing/service systems with more advanced technology and higher production rates can generate complex processes in which consecutive observations are dependent and each variable is correlated. These processes obviously violate the assumption of the independence of each observation that underlies traditional SPC and thus deteriorate the performance of its traditional tools. The popular way to address this issue is to monitor the residuals—the difference between the actual value and the fitted value—with the traditional SPC approach. However, this residuals-based approach requires two steps: (1) finding the residuals; and (2) monitoring the process. Also, an accurate prediction model is necessary to obtain the uncorrelated residuals. Furthermore, these residuals are not the original values of the observations and consequently may have lost some useful information about the targeted process. The main purpose of this article is to examine the feasibility of using one-class classification-based control charts to handle multivariate and autocorrelated processes. The article uses simulated data to present an analysis and comparison of one-class classification-based control charts and the traditional Hotelling's T 2 chart.  相似文献

Mixture distribution survival trees are constructed by approximating different nodes in the tree by distinct types of mixture distributions to improve within node homogeneity. Previously, we proposed a mixture distribution survival tree-based method for determining clinically meaningful patient groups from a given dataset of patients’ length of stay. This article extends this approach to examine the interrelationship between length of stay in hospital, outcome measures, and other covariates. We describe an application of this approach to patient pathway and examine the relationship between length of stay in hospital and/or treatment outcome using five-years’ retrospective data of stroke patients.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider paired survival data, in which pair members are subject to the same right censoring time, but they are dependent on each other. Assuming the Marshall–Olkin Multivariate Weibull distribution for the joint distribution of the lifetimes (X1, X2) and the censoring time X3, we derive the joint density of the actual observed data and obtain maximum likelihood estimators, Bayes estimators and posterior regret Gamma minimax estimators of the unknown parameters under squared error loss and weighted squared error loss functions. We compare the performances of the maximum likelihood estimators and Bayes estimators numerically in terms of biases and estimated Mean Squared Error Loss.  相似文献

In 2007, Domínguez-Molina et al. obtained the moment generating function (mgf) of the matrix variate closed skew normal distribution. In this paper, we use their mgf to obtain the first two moments and some additional properties of quadratic forms for the matrix variate skew normal distributions. The quadratic forms are particularly interesting because they are essentially correlation tests that introduce a new type of orthogonality condition.  相似文献

Statistica 46:199208. [Google Scholar]) on the skew-normal distribution, we propose an extension of the generalized extreme value (GEV) distribution, the SGEV. This new distribution allows for a better fit of maxima and can be interpreted as both the distribution of maxima when maxima are taken on dependent data and when maxima are taken over a random block size. We propose to estimate the parameters of the SGEV distribution via the probability-weighted moment method. A simulation study is presented to provide an application of the SGEV on block maxima procedure and return level estimation. The proposed method is also implemented on a real-life data.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Distributions of non-overlapping runs in multistate systems are derived using a new generating function (GF) approach, which has been applied previously mainly to exact length runs. By utilizing this method, univariate and multivariate joint distributions of non-overlapping runs are derived in a unified way. The GF approach also leads naturally to the asymptotic Gaussian distributions, with the mean, variance, and covariance linear in the size of the system.  相似文献
