Weighted log‐rank estimating function has become a standard estimation method for the censored linear regression model, or the accelerated failure time model. Well established statistically, the estimator defined as a consistent root has, however, rather poor computational properties because the estimating function is neither continuous nor, in general, monotone. We propose a computationally efficient estimator through an asymptotics‐guided Newton algorithm, in which censored quantile regression methods are tailored to yield an initial consistent estimate and a consistent derivative estimate of the limiting estimating function. We also develop fast interval estimation with a new proposal for sandwich variance estimation. The proposed estimator is asymptotically equivalent to the consistent root estimator and barely distinguishable in samples of practical size. However, computation time is typically reduced by two to three orders of magnitude for point estimation alone. Illustrations with clinical applications are provided.  相似文献

A new two-sample rank test for location is proposed. This test, called the D-test, is asymptotically efficient for underlying densities which follow a “flat-topped” Laplace distribution. The D-statistic is simple to compute, and the test may be suitable when there is censoring. The D-test includes the median test as a special case.  相似文献

The structural affinity of mixed rank statistics and linear combinations of functions of concomitants of order statistics (or induced order statistics) is examined here. Some weal as well as strong invariance principles for these statistics are studied. A variety of models (depend on the nature of stochastic dependence of the two variates) is considered and the regularity conditions are tailored for these diverse situations. Abstract

This paper discusses Johansen’s likelihood ratio tests to determine the cointegration rank under local alternative hypotheses in the vector autoregressive models (VARs) in which drift or linear trend related to the hypotheses is not dependent upon the sample size, and evaluates related asymptotic properties. We show that the test statistics diverge at the rate of the sample size even under one of local alternative hypotheses, owing to the existence of such a deterministic term. This implies that under our situations, the tests are far more powerful than those under the conventional local alternative hypotheses.  相似文献

The theory of locally most powerful rank tests and the union intersection principle are incorporated in the formulation of some distribution-free rank tests for ordered alternatives in some simple linear models (including the classical one-way layout as a special case). The problem of comparing two life distributions is considered. It Is assumed that each life test Is stopped after a predetermined number of failures without regard to the number of failures which have occurred in the other life test. A generalized Wilcoxon-rlann-Whitney test is proposed. Small and large sample distributional results are obtained for the test statistic. Under the assumption that the life distributions differ by at most a scale parameter an exact confidence interval for that parameter is obtained. Rank statistics which arise as estimates of the first and third components of a frequency decomposition of Pearson's phi-squared distance measure, introduced by Eubank, LaRiccia, and Rosenstein (1987), are examined for their usefulness as tests of symmetry about a known median against various asymmetric alternatives, Pitman asymptotic relative efficiencies are used to compare the efficacies of the new statistics with classical test procedures, and empirical powers of the new tests are compared via simulation for a variety of asymmetric distributions. Statistics which arise from components based on Legendre polynomials are of particular interest. The first component is the familiar Wilcoxon signed rank statistic. The third component, which is a new statistic for this problem, exhibits a high level of sensitivity to a variety of asymmetric alternatives both asymptotically and in small sample studies.  相似文献
