Upper Bound for p-Value of the Test of Multivariate Normal Ordered Mean Vectors Against all Alternatives

Consider the problem of testing the isotonic of several p-variate normal mean vectors against all alternatives. It is difficult to compute the exact p-value for this problem of testing with the classical method when the covariance matrices are completely unknown. In the present paper, a test statistic is proposed for this problem of testing. A reformulation of the test statistic is given based on the orthogonal projections on the closed convex cones and then the upper bound for p-value of the test statistic is computed.     

Optimum two stage group-screening designs

In this paper, emphasis has been given to both the expected number of runs and the expected number of incorrect decisions and two stage group-screening designs have been obtained which minimise one fixing the other or minimise some sort of cost function which connects the two. Some group-screening plans have been given at the end as illustrations.     

On the construction of orthogonal factorial designs of resolution 11

A new method of construction of orthogonal resolution IV designs for symmetrical and asymmetrical factorials has been presented. Many new series of orthogonal factorial designs of resolution IV can be obtained by the above general method.     

Convergence rates for empirical bayes estimators of parameters in multi-parameter exponential families

This paper obtains the convergence rates of the empirical Bayes estimators of parameters in the multi-parameter exponential families. The rates can approximate to 0(n=¹) arbitrarily. The paper presents the multivariate orthogonal polynomials which are continuous on the total space R^p.     

Multivariate Two-Sided Tests for Normal Mean Vectors Based on Approximations of Likelihood Ratio Test

Assuming that all components of a normal mean vector are simultaneously non negative or non positive, we consider a multivariate two-sided test for testing whether the normal mean vector is equal to zero or not. Since the likelihood ratio test is accompanied with theoretical and computational complications, we discuss two kinds of approximations of the likelihood ratio test. One is based on a conservative critical value determined by a certain inequality. The other is constructed by the approximation of the likelihood ratio test proposed by Tang et al. (1989). We compare the likelihood ratio test and two kinds of approximations through numerical examples regarding critical values and the power of the test.     

An improved graphical procedure for multivariate-quality control

In an earlier article (Kulkarni and Paranjape 1984) we proposed a procedure based on Andrews' function plot technique for the quality control of multivariate process. It was shown that this procedure may lead to an erroneous conclusions regarding the status of the process. This article presents an improved method which avoids the above drawback. A heuristic justification is provided to show that the new method is free from the error. Simulation studies are carried out to support the claim. An example is included to illustrate the use of the new technique.     

Optimal orthogonal block designs for four-mixture components in two blocks based on F-squares for Becker's models and K-model

Orthogonal block designs in mixture experiments have been extensively studied by various authors. Aggarwal et al. [M.L. Aggarwal, P. Singh, V. Sarin, and B. Husain, Mixture designs in orthogonal blocks using F-squares, METRON – Int. J. Statist. LXVII(2) (2009), pp. 105–128] considered the case of components assuming the same volume fractions and obtained mixture designs in orthogonal blocks using F-squares. In this paper, we have used the class of designs presented by Aggarwal et al. and have obtained D-, A- and E-optimal orthogonal block designs for four components in two blocks for Becker's mixture models and K-model, respectively. Orthogonality conditions for the considered models are also given.
