当前人类学片的选题重点与非物质文化遗产的保护

影视人类学的研究对象与人类学片的拍摄对象都是人类文化,而人类学片的拍摄首先面临的是选题与选材的问题。当前,中国人类学片的选题重点应该是国家分批公布的一千余项非物质文化遗产。人类学片对于非物质文化遗产的保护与传承具有重要功能,因此,我们建议：应该迅速建立中国影视人类学与非物质文化遗产档案馆、展览馆、数字博物馆或资料库等,从而为构建社会主义和谐社会与先进文化服务。     

Family Characteristics and Mate Selection: Evidence From Computer‐Assisted Dating in Japan

Research on mate selection rarely considers singles' preferences for their future partners' family configurations and experiences. Using online dating records from a matchmaking agency in Japan, a society with a strong emphasis on family and kinship, we examine how singles' responses to date requests correspond to potential mates' family circumstances. Results showed that singles' preferences for potential partners' family characteristics stem from a concern about future obligations toward the partner's family and stereotypes associated with certain family traits. Singles are less likely to accept requests from those from large families, which are seen as traditional. Being from a large family, however, hampers individuals' dating chances more if they are firstborn and have no brothers, two conditions that make them the designated child to care for elderly parents. We also find that Japanese singles seek partners with more of the universally valued family traits rather than traits similar to their own.     

河北省金融资源充分利用的路径选择

在开放的市场条件下,金融作为现代经济的核心,其资源的优化配置对区域经济发展有着及其重要的作用,本文根据河北省金融资源配置现状,分析了河北省金融资源利用中存在的问题,指出要充分利用河北省金融资源,必须从调整经济产业结构、改善金融生态环境、抑制金融资源外流和提高金融业自身水平做起。只有这样才能提高河北金融的竞争能力,促进河北经济的整体发展。     

Efficiency Wages,Productivity and Simultaneity: A Meta-Regression Analysis

This study reports a meta-analysis of 75 estimates of the efficiency-wage effect. It reveals a strong efficiency-wage effect that depends upon whether researchers control for potential simultaneity between wages and productivity. Studies that control for simultaneity tend to report stronger effects. Clear evidence of publication selection is also found. E24, J30.

Women Rule: Gendered Leadership and State Supreme Court Chief Justice Selection

ABSTRACT

While women are underrepresented in many political institutions and leadership positions, nearly half of state supreme court chief justices are women. Is there something about the role of state supreme court justice that facilitates the recruitment of women to this important political position? We examine whether the selection of a woman chief is driven by the court’s institutional need for women’s leadership style or simply the supply of qualified justices. We find that ideological diversity drives demand for a woman chief. A supply of experienced women justices also has a significant impact on likelihood of selection.     

The exponentiated reduced Kies distribution: Properties and applications

Here we consider an exponentiated version of the reduced Kies distribution and discuss some of its properties. The parameters of the distribution are estimated by the method of maximum likelihood and illustrated with the help of certain real-life data sets. Asymptotic behavior of the maximum likelihood estimators of the parameters of the distribution is also studied by using certain simulated data sets.     

The performance of model averaged tail area confidence intervals

We investigate the exact coverage and expected length properties of the model averaged tail area (MATA) confidence interval proposed by Turek and Fletcher, CSDA, 2012, in the context of two nested, normal linear regression models. The simpler model is obtained by applying a single linear constraint on the regression parameter vector of the full model. For given length of response vector and nominal coverage of the MATA confidence interval, we consider all possible models of this type and all possible true parameter values, together with a wide class of design matrices and parameters of interest. Our results show that, while not ideal, MATA confidence intervals perform surprisingly well in our regression scenario, provided that we use the minimum weight within the class of weights that we consider on the simpler model.     

中国高等教育中的自主招生与人才选拔：来自北大、清华和人大的发现

本文通过对“首都大学生成长追踪调查”中三所精英大学（北京大学、清华大学和中国人民大学）具有代表性样本的数据分析,从教育公平和人才选拔效率两个角度检验了自主招生政策实施的效果。研究结果表明,从教育公平的方面来讲,获得自主招生破格录取的学生更有可能来自父母受过高等教育的家庭、城市家庭和好的重点高中。从人才选拔效率的角度来讲,获得自主招生破格录取学生的学业表现、社会活动能力、非认知能力、毕业后的计划和实际去向与统招学生却并无显著差别。本文的发现对于如何完善自主招生政策、促进教育公平、科学选拔和培养优秀人才等议题具有重要的政策启示意义。     

Quantile regression for robust estimation and variable selection in partially linear varying-coefficient models

In this paper, we develop a new estimation procedure based on quantile regression for semiparametric partially linear varying-coefficient models. The proposed estimation approach is empirically shown to be much more efficient than the popular least squares estimation method for non-normal error distributions, and almost not lose any efficiency for normal errors. Asymptotic normalities of the proposed estimators for both the parametric and nonparametric parts are established. To achieve sparsity when there exist irrelevant variables in the model, two variable selection procedures based on adaptive penalty are developed to select important parametric covariates as well as significant nonparametric functions. Moreover, both these two variable selection procedures are demonstrated to enjoy the oracle property under some regularity conditions. Some Monte Carlo simulations are conducted to assess the finite sample performance of the proposed estimators, and a real-data example is used to illustrate the application of the proposed methods.
