The excess cancer risk that might result from exposure to a mixture of chemical carcinogens usually must be estimated using data from experiments conducted with individual chemicals. In estimating such risk, it is commonly assumed that the total risk due to the mixture is the sum of the risks of the individual components, provided that the risks associated with individual chemicals at levels present in the mixture are low. This assumption, while itself not necessarily conservative, has led to the conservative practice of summing individual upper-bound risk estimates in order to obtain an upper bound on the total excess cancer risk for a mixture. Less conservative procedures are described here and are illustrated for the case of a mixture of four carcinogens.  相似文献

We consider a bootstrap method for Markov chains where the original chain is broken into a (random) number of cycles based on an atom (regeneration point) and the bootstrap scheme resamples from these cycles. We investigate the asymptotic accuracy of this method for the case of a sum (or a sample mean) related to the Markov chain. Under some standard moment conditions, the method is shown to be at least as good as the normal approximation, and better (second-order accurate) in the case of nonlattice summands. We give three examples to illustrate the applicability of our results.  相似文献

Diagnostic techniques are proposed for assessing the influence of individual cases on confidence intervals in nonlinear regression. The technique proposed uses the method of profile t-plots applied to the case-deletion model. The effect of the geometry of the statistical model on the influence measures is assessed, and an algorithm for computing case-deleted confidence intervals is described. This algorithm provides a direct method for constructing a simple diagnostic measure based on the ratio of the lengths of confidence intervals. The generalization of these methods to multiresponse models is discussed.  相似文献

在供应链管理中,当需要考察的供应商产品质量特性多于两个时,就需要对其多元加工过程的稳定性进行评定.利用信息熵原理和多元加工过程的抽样数据,首先计算得到单一质量特性加工过程的熵及其过程能力指数,然后基于熵权法,对单变量过程能力指数进行加权处理,从而得到多元加工过程能力指数的计算模型.为了减少单次抽样所带来的随机误差,利用Bootstrap再抽样技术,对多元过程能力指数的概率分布进行仿真模拟,获得了多元能力指数的经验分布及其大致的置信区间,为更有效地评价供应商多元质量特性加工能力提供了概率依据.最后以某汽车集团的曲轴供应过程过例,对三个候选供应商的多元加工过程进行评价和选择.  相似文献

An estimation method for pairwise interaction potential of a stationary Gibbs point process is introduced by considering the case of observations located on a sphere. It is based both on Fourier decomposition of the potential and on minimum contrast estimation. It is defined when many independent realizations of the process are available. Consistency and asymptotic normality are proved for the resulting estimators. The method enables derivation of the choice of the potential function by embedded hypotheses testing. The method is applied to independent observations of root locations on internodes around stem of maize roots. The internodes are described as circles and we focus on the interaction function associated with the potential. Since a model with too many components seems to fail, we choose a sequential procedure based on embedded hypotheses testing to build a simpler model.  相似文献

The empirical best linear unbiased prediction approach is a popular method for the estimation of small area parameters. However, the estimation of reliable mean squared prediction error (MSPE) of the estimated best linear unbiased predictors (EBLUP) is a complicated process. In this paper we study the use of resampling methods for MSPE estimation of the EBLUP. A cross-sectional and time-series stationary small area model is used to provide estimates in small areas. Under this model, a parametric bootstrap procedure and a weighted jackknife method are introduced. A Monte Carlo simulation study is conducted in order to compare the performance of different resampling-based measures of uncertainty of the EBLUP with the analytical approximation. Our empirical results show that the proposed resampling-based approaches performed better than the analytical approximation in several situations, although in some cases they tend to underestimate the true MSPE of the EBLUP in a higher number of small areas.  相似文献

Canonical correlations are maximized correlation coefficients indicating the relationships between pairs of canonical variates that are linear combinations of the two sets of original variables. The number of non-zero canonical correlations in a population is called its dimensionality. Parallel analysis (PA) is an empirical method for determining the number of principal components or factors that should be retained in factor analysis. An example is given to illustrate for adapting proposed procedures based on PA and bootstrap modified PA to the context of canonical correlation analysis (CCA). The performances of the proposed procedures are evaluated in a simulation study by their comparison with traditional sequential test procedures with respect to the under-, correct- and over-determination of dimensionality in CCA.  相似文献

The essence of the generalised multivariate Behrens–Fisher problem (BFP) is how to test the null hypothesis of equality of mean vectors for two or more populations when their dispersion matrices differ. Solutions to the BFP usually assume variables are multivariate normal and do not handle high‐dimensional data. In ecology, species' count data are often high‐dimensional, non‐normal and heterogeneous. Also, interest lies in analysing compositional dissimilarities among whole communities in non‐Euclidean (semi‐metric or non‐metric) multivariate space. Hence, dissimilarity‐based tests by permutation (e.g., PERMANOVA, ANOSIM) are used to detect differences among groups of multivariate samples. Such tests are not robust, however, to heterogeneity of dispersions in the space of the chosen dissimilarity measure, most conspicuously for unbalanced designs. Here, we propose a modification to the PERMANOVA test statistic, coupled with either permutation or bootstrap resampling methods, as a solution to the BFP for dissimilarity‐based tests. Empirical simulations demonstrate that the type I error remains close to nominal significance levels under classical scenarios known to cause problems for the un‐modified test. Furthermore, the permutation approach is found to be more powerful than the (more conservative) bootstrap for detecting changes in community structure for real ecological datasets. The utility of the approach is shown through analysis of 809 species of benthic soft‐sediment invertebrates from 101 sites in five areas spanning 1960 km along the Norwegian continental shelf, based on the Jaccard dissimilarity measure.  相似文献

The coefficient of variation (CV) is extensively used in many areas of applied statistics including quality control and sampling. It is regarded as a measure of stability or uncertainty, and can indicate the relative dispersion of data in the population to the population mean. In this article, based on progressive first-failure-censored data, we study the behavior of the CV of a random variable that follows a Burr-XII distribution. Specifically, we compute the maximum likelihood estimations and the confidence intervals of CV based on the observed Fisher information matrix using asymptotic distribution of the maximum likelihood estimator and also by using the bootstrapping technique. In addition, we propose to apply Markov Chain Monte Carlo techniques to tackle this problem, which allows us to construct the credible intervals. A numerical example based on real data is presented to illustrate the implementation of the proposed procedure. Finally, Monte Carlo simulations are performed to observe the behavior of the proposed methods.  相似文献
