In survival data analysis it is frequent the occurrence of a significant amount of censoring to the right indicating that there may be a proportion of individuals in the study for which the event of interest will never happen. This fact is not considered by the ordinary survival theory. Consequently, the survival models with a cure fraction have been receiving a lot of attention in the recent years. In this article, we consider the standard mixture cure rate model where a fraction p 0 of the population is of individuals cured or immune and the remaining 1 ? p 0 are not cured. We assume an exponential distribution for the survival time and an uniform-exponential for the censoring time. In a simulation study, the impact caused by the informative uniform-exponential censoring on the coverage probabilities and lengths of asymptotic confidence intervals is analyzed by using the Fisher information and observed information matrices.  相似文献

Ridge estimators are usually examined through Monte Carlo simulations since their properties are difficult to obtain analytically. In this paper we argue that a simulation design commonly used in the literature will give biased results of Monte Carlo simulations in favor of ridge regression over ordinary least square estimators. Specifically, it is argued that the properties of ridge estimators that are functions of p distinct regressor eigenvalues should not be evaluated through Monte Carlo designs using only two distinct eigenvalues.  相似文献

Abstract

This paper studies a machine repair problem with repairman’s single working vacation in which repairman works with a lower repair rate rather than completely terminating repair during vacation period. Employing Markov process theory and matrix analytical method, various system performance measures are obtained in transient and stationary regimes. Moreover, we deduce the system reliability, the mean time to failure, the repairman’s busy period and the waiting time of failed machine by using the probabilistic properties of phase type distribution. Further, some numerical examples are provided. Finally, a cost model is developed to determine the optimum value of operating machines.  相似文献

The solution of the generalized symmetric eigenproblem Ax = λBx is required in many multivariate statistical models, viz. canonical correlation, discriminant analysis, multivariate linear model, limited information maximum likelihoods. Multivariate analysis techniques are applied to the two-period repeated measures crossover design. The approach considered in this paper has the advantage over the univariate analysis approach proposed recently by Wallenstein and Fisher (1977) that the former does not require any specific structure on the variance-covariance matrix of the repeated measures factor. (It should be noted that sums and differences of observations over periods are used for all tests. Therefore, there are two matrices under consideration, one for sums and one for differences.) Tests of significance are derived using the Wilks? criterion, and the procedure is illustrated with a numerical example from the area of clinical trials.  相似文献

The problem of estimating the location of a mobile robot in an unstructured environment is discussed. This work extends earlier results in two important ways. First, the bias and variance of the estimation are analytically derived as functions of the angular error and distance between frames. Second, the uncertainty covariance matrix is derived and is compared to the first-order approximation previously used to estimate the result of compounding uncertain transformations to provide a framework in which the appropriateness of the first-order estimate can be formally studied. A simulation study, showing how the biases and expected distance between the estimate and true position of the robot vary as a function of measurement errors and different path plannings, is presented. Some possible improvements of the estimation method and future research topics are also given.  相似文献

A General Multiconsequence Intervention Model class that describes the simultaneous occurrence of a change in the process mean and covariance structure is introduced. When the covariance change is negligible, this model class reduces to intervention models described by Box and Tiao (1975). Maximum Likelihood Estimators for the parameters of the multiconsequence model class are developed for various important modeling situations that result from different a priori information about the form of the mean shift function form and the model parameters. As a consequence of these estimation results, an identification procedure for determining an appropriate dynamic mean shift form is suggested. The necessary hypothesis tests and corresponding confidence intervals.  相似文献
