When calculating independently the false alarm rate of the eight usual runs rules used in SPC control chart, it appears that the proposed rule designed to detect mixture patterns corresponds to a Type-I error strongly lower than the seven other rules. This discrepancy is underlined and the mixture rule is showed to be useless both for in-control and out-of-control processes. Thus a modification of the mixture detection rule is proposed and the impact of this new mixture rule is then illustrated and discussed using Monte Carlo calculations. 相似文献

Tests for randomness of observations that involve one factor have been considered by many authors among them are Mosteller [4], Bateman [21], Barton and David [1] and Shaughnessy [7]. However, on many occasions, data involve two different factors such as time and location, temperature and pressure, or levels of doses and responses of patients and so on. In this paper, we consider tests for randomness of observations that involve two factors for which data are given in a matrix form. Some new definitions of runs of a matrix of data are defined and discussed. A special kind of run is proposed for the test for randomness. Distributions and properties of this run are studied. In this article, a multivariate synthetic control chart is developed for monitoring the mean vector of a normally distributed process. The proposed chart is a combination of the Hotelling's T 2 chart and Conforming Run Length chart. The operation, design, and performance of the chart are described. Average run length comparisons between some other existing control charts and the synthetic T 2 chart are presented. They indicate that the synthetic T 2 chart outperforms Hotelling's T 2 chart and T 2 chart with supplementary runs rules. 相似文献

In this article, we consider the distributions of the number of success runs of specified length and scans on a higher-order Markov tree under three different enumeration schemes (the “non overlapping”, the “at least”, and the “overlapping” scheme). Recursive formulae for the evaluation of their probability generating functions are established. We provide a proper framework for extending the exact distribution theory of runs and scans from based on sequences to based on directed trees. Some numerical results for the run and scan statistics are given in order to illustrate the computational aspects and the feasibility of our theoretical results. In this article, we extend a single exponentially weighted moving average semicircle (EWMA-SC) chart to a single generally weighted moving average (GWMA) chart. This new control chart can effectively combine the features of the SC chart with GWMA techniques, and can easily indicate the source and direction of a change. We perform simulations to evaluate the average run length, standard deviation of the run length, and diagnostic abilities of the GWMA-SC and EWMA-SC charts. An extensive comparison shows that the GWMA-SC control chart is more sensitive than the EWMA-SC chart for detecting small shifts in the process mean and/or variability. 相似文献

ABSTRACTIn this work, we proposed an adaptive multivariate cumulative sum (CUSUM) statistical process control chart for signaling a range of location shifts. This method was based on the multivariate CUSUM control chart proposed by Pignatiello and Runger (1990), but we adopted the adaptive approach similar to that discussed by Dai et al. (2011), which was based on a different CUSUM method introduced by Crosier (1988). The reference value in this proposed procedure was changed adaptively in each run, with the current mean shift estimated by exponentially weighted moving average (EWMA) statistic. By specifying the minimal magnitude of the mean shift, our proposed control chart achieved a good overall performance for detecting a range of shifts rather than a single value. We compared our adaptive multivariate CUSUM method with that of Dai et al. (2001) and the non adaptive versions of these two methods, by evaluating both the steady state and zero state average run length (ARL) values. The detection efficiency of our method showed improvements over the comparative methods when the location shift is unknown but falls within an expected range. 相似文献

The CUSUM control chart proposed by Page is a widely used in monitoring the quality of manufacturing processes. The Shiryayev-Roberts (S-R) control chart due to Shiryayev (1963) and Roberts (1988) is one of its competitors, This paper is concerned with the distribution properties of the run lengths of these two control charts. In context of continuous time, we first give the expansions of the higher moments of these run lengths. Then, we show that the asymptotic distributions of these run lengths are either some exponential distributions, or the distribution of the suprema of a standard Brownian motion, or some normal distributions, according to whether the μ<δ/2,μ =δ/2 and μ>δ/2. Here δ is the reference value of the above charts. Some similar results are also obtained in the context of discrete time. 相似文献

A general model for the zone control chart is presented. Using this model, it is shown that there are score vectors for zone control charts which result in superior average run length performance in comparison to Shewhart charts with common runs rules. A fast initial response (FIR) feature for the zone control chart is also proposed. Average run lengths of the zone control chart with this feature are calculated. It is shown that the FIR feature improves zone control chart performance by providing significantly earlier signals when the process is out of control. 相似文献
