In the present article, we discuss the regression of a point on the surface of a unit sphere in d dimensions given a point on the surface of a unit sphere in p dimensions, where p may not be equal to d. Point projection is added to the rotation and linear transformation for regression link function. The identifiability of the model is proved. Then, parameter estimation in this set up is discussed. Simulation studies and data analyses are done to illustrate the model.  相似文献

SmithKline Beecham (SBPI) is a major player in the Indian pharmaceutical industry. Though relatively small in terms of turnover, it has performed Pharmaceuticals (India) exceptionally well in terms ofprofitability and growth rate. The firm has substantial cash reserves. However, the firm operates in 'mass production' mode at present, with the established finished goods inventory norms being in the range of 1 to 1.5 months. Competitive pressure on the firm is now forcing it to move towards world class manufacturing and the application of concepts from MRP II, JIT and OPT is under consideration. This paper describes the considerations that went into the justification, design and implementation of an integrated production planning and control system in this situaion.  相似文献

If traders can obtain private information about the payoff and the supply of a stock then there can exist (i) complementarity in information acquisition and (ii) multiple equilibria in the financial and information markets. The additional dimension of supply information increases coordination possibilities in the financial market, leading to multiple equilibria. The existence of two information sources can lead to information acquisition being complementary. The multiplicity of equilibria is suggestive of excess volatility and crashes. The different financial market equilibria imply differing patterns of cost of capital and volume of trade. (JEL: D82, D83, G14)  相似文献

We propose a distribution-free test for the nonparametric two sample scale problem. Unlike the other tests for this problem, we do not assume that the two distribution functions have a common median. We assume that they have a common quantile of order a (not necessarily 1/2). The test statistic is a modification of the Sukhatme statistic for the scale problem and the Wilcoxon-Mann-Whitney statistic for stochastic dominance. It is shown that the new test is uniformly more efficient (in the Pitman sense) than the Sukhatme test and has very good efficiency when compared to the Mood test.  相似文献

Abstract

In the epoch of open economy and with the emergence of availability of individualised products over the Internet, Indian manufacturing industries are facing an enormous pressure to become more flexible and responsive, to accomplish customer’s varied and increasing demands. Mass customisation (MC) is about developing a customised product on demand for a particular customer after reception of a real order and producing it with the similar operational efficiency as one would anticipate from a mass-produced product. MC takes into account the merits of both the earlier systems of production, i.e. mass production and craft production. The craft production satisfies the personalised demands of customers and the mass production produces a limited variety of products at lower cost. Industries in developing countries such as India confront pressure from several perspectives to adopt MC. This study has been presented in the context of Indian manufacturing industries, and particularly for footwear industries to examine the enablers of MC. Achieving MC, however, require certain enabling technologies and processes in place. Several such enablers have been identified from the research literature. The objective of this study it to key out significantly important enablers for MC using interpretive structural modelling (ISM), and develop a hierarchy of these enablers for the Indian footwear units. ISM results show that modularity-based practices, digital manufacturing practices and supply chain integration are the most important MC enablers. Enhanced flexibility and responsiveness in the footwear production system can be achieved through modular and reconfigurable production system.  相似文献
