Control chart is the most important statistical process control tool used to monitor changes in process location and dispersion. In this study, an EWMA control chart is proposed for efficient and robust monitoring of process dispersion. The proposed chart, namely the MDEWMA chart, is based on estimating the process standard deviation (σ) using the mean absolute deviations (MD), taken from the sample median. The performance of the proposed chart has been compared with the EWMASR chart (a dispersion EWMA chart based on sample range) and MD chart (a Shewhart-type dispersion chart based on MD), under the existence and violation of normality assumption. It has been observed that the proposed MDEWMA chart is more efficient and robust when compared with both EWMASR and MD charts in terms of run length (RL) characteristics such as average RL, median RL and standard deviation of the RL distribution.  相似文献

Deficiency citations for safety violations in U.S. nursing homes from 2000 to 2007 are examined (representing a panel of 119,472 observations). Internal (i.e., operating characteristics of the facility), organizational factors (i.e., characteristics of the facility itself), and external factors (i.e., characteristics outside of the influence of the organization) associated with these deficiency citations are examined. The findings show that nursing homes increasingly receive deficiency citations for resident safety issues. Low staffing levels, poor quality of care, and an unfavorable Medicaid mix (occupancy and reimbursement) are associated with the likelihood of receiving deficiency citations for safety violations. In many cases, this likely influences the quality of life and quality of care of residents.  相似文献

This paper identifies and discusses specific strategies for incorporating information relevant to the effects of racism and ageism in our society into the curricula of social work programs. Content related to the existing policies, programs, and the special needs of the aged, including the minority aged, should be integrated into the class and field experiences of social work students and practitioners. The importance of positively altering existing perceptions of the strengths and needs of groups subject to the jeopardies of age and race is emphasized.  相似文献

I add a developmental perspective to the picture Roth and Freedgood have elaborated regarding the significance of surfaces. With Roth's attent ion to the analytic couple and adult intersubjective interaction, I include the mother–infant dyad—what I have written about, following Winnicott, as the “nursing couple.” I now employ Meltzer's evocative concept regarding the aesthetic impact of the mother. From this perspective regarding the early maternal relation, I then address the anxieties that Freedgood, especially, highlights in relation to culture and gender. I emphasize that we communicate to and with a maternal object that is herself a complex object both in her surface and in her interior. I contend that jewelry is a concrete representation of the mother's most interesting bodily surface.  相似文献

Through constitutional amendments and case law, the United States citizens receive privacy protections. These same protections do not exist for individuals incarcerated in prisons and jails. Instead, their privacy rights are regularly replaced by larger institutional concerns for security, safety, and control. Such privacy violation measures may include electronic surveillance, recording of phone calls, opening/reading of mail, and searches of their person, cell, and property. Although it is expected that incarcerated individuals have fewer privacy rights than nonincarcerated citizens, some privacy violations may be perceived as procedurally unjust due to their severity and infringement upon incarcerated individuals' rights to dignity and respect. This has implications for the well-being of incarcerated individuals, the legitimacy of correctional officers, and as a result, the potential safety and security of institutions.  相似文献
