THE GANDHI TECHNIQUE: A NEW PROCEDURE FOR INTRACTABLE PROBLEMS   总被引:1,自引:1,他引:0
Most therapists eventually encounter a client with intractable difficulties. Such difficulties have various origins. The Gandhi Technique is a simple, dramatic and seemingly effective procedure to resolve intractable difficulties. This paper describes the technique and its application in three different cases. The paper also discusses several theories which may account for the efficacy of the technique. The authors propose the technique as a procedure that can be employed to resolve many kinds of problems, regardless of their origin.  相似文献

SUMMARY. The care of children in hospital has greatly changed over the past thirty years. Their stay in hospital is now much shorter, they are more likely to be cared for in paediatric wards, by staff specially trained to meet their needs, with close, continuing attention from their parents. This article traces these changes from the days when visiting was strictly limited to the family centred care to be found in most hospital wards today. The processes by which these changes came about are described and the areas of concern which still remain are considered  相似文献

Current research reveals that trauma often cannot be resolved solely through interventions that utilize left-brain functions, such as those used in traditional talk therapy. Because trauma is actually something that happens deep in the core of the brain and the body, the most effective treatment approaches integrate traditional therapy modalities with those that focus on calming the nervous system such as yoga, mindfulness, imagery, expressive arts, and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing. This paper will focus on synthesizing current information on traumatic stress, the neurobiology of trauma, and evidence-based, body-integrative interventions provided within the framework of the Collaborative Change Model (CCM) (Barrett in The systemic treatment of incest. Taylor & Francis, Bristol, 1989; Treating complex trauma: a relational blueprint for collaboration and change. Rutledge, New York, 2014). Through the framework of the CCM, this paper will provide clinicians with an understanding of how and when to engage clients in body–mind approaches, how to help clients learn to recognize when they are in fight, flight, or freeze response patterns, and how to develop skills for managing emotional dysregulation. A detailed case study will be provided to illustrate this integrative approach in the treatment of trauma.  相似文献

The amount of online scholarly information is rapidly expanding and residing in increasingly disparate sources, while user behavior is evolving to demand single search interfaces like Google. Federated search enables librarians to meet these challenges by supplying efficient, effective access and delivery of the most relevant content from diverse sources to their patrons. Introducing the ability to simultaneously search multiple databases, however, can quickly lead to information overload. Dynamic categorization of search results is one way to manage and organize the large volume of content returned. This article will examine various federated search technologies and important considerations that librarians should undertake when evaluating federated search applications, as well as address how SwetsWise Searcher supports the fundamental aspects of federated searching within that context.  相似文献
