This article examines whether asking the vote question beforeparty identification alters the strength of partisanship andits relationship to vote choice. It employs the 1992 BritishElection Survey, which included a random split half-sample experiment,and the 1992–93 American Election Study Panel, where thequestion order for party identification and the vote were changed.The results show that altering the question ordering had verylittle effect in Britain and no significant effect in the UnitedStates. These results are consistent with the notion that partyidentification is one of the more enduring and stable componentsof mass political behavior in both presidential and parliamentarysystems. 相似文献

This paper reports on the results of a split-ballot experimentconducted in 1987 to test alternative versions of the decennialcensus long form. Two forms were randomly assigned and self-administeredin group sessions involving a total of 515 respondents. Theorder of race and Hispanic origin items was experimentally manipulated.The standard long form asks race, then Hispanic origin. Theexperimental form reversed the order of the items in order toreduce perceived redundancy, and to create a more restrictedframe of reference for the race item. The objectives of thecontext manipulation were (1) to reduce item nonresponse forthe Hispanic origin item, and (2) to reduce reporting of "Otherrace" by Hispanics in the race item. Objective (1) was met.Objective (2) was met for Hispanics born in a U.S. state, butnot for immigrants. The inherent instabilityof complex supplychains is well understood and documented; the potential benefits of taking time out of the chain in terms of reduced inventory and lower operating costs are clearly substantial. There is now a broad community of managers and practitioners who know ‘what’ in principle needs to be done. The issue for all is ‘how’ to go about it for their particular business. This paper builds on an organizational trade-off model through which logistics moderates the conflicting demands and culture of manufacturing on the one hand and marketing on the other. The paper introduces three practical techniques for securing the benefits of supply chain management: time-based simulation; cost-to-serve; and piloting change. Les processus sont les suivants: (1) les ambiguites et les désaccords autour desquels les négociations se déroulent, (2) les stratégies adoptées par les enseignants et par les élèves, (3) les aspects temporels de la négociation. Le texte conclut en indiquant des domaines de recherche que suggère cette perspective. It is proposed that analyses of teacher-pupil interactions from a negotiation perspective would increase our understanding of the processes whereby collective agreements are achieved, if at all, in these situations. To demonstrate the utility of this proposal this paper selects three processes of negotiation and analyses teacher-pupil interactions along these lines. The processes analysed are (1) the ambiguities and disagreements around which negotiations evolve, (2) the strategies employed by teachers and pupils, and (3) the temporal aspects of negotiation.
