ABSTRACT

In this article, Bayesian estimation of the expected cell counts for log-linear models is considered. The prior specified for log-linear parameters is used to determine a prior for expected cell counts, by means of the family and parameters of prior distributions. This approach is more cost-effective than working directly with cell counts because converting prior information into a prior distribution on the log-linear parameters is easier than that of on the expected cell counts. While proceeding from the prior on log-linear parameters to the prior of the expected cell counts, we faced with a singularity problem of variance matrix of the prior distribution, and added a new precision parameter to solve the problem. A numerical example is also given to illustrate the usage of the new parameter.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

In this article, main characteristics of a generalized Gumbel (GG) distribution are derived. Parameter estimation with method of moments, maximum likelihood, and Bayesian approaches are demonstrated. Due to the ranges of its skewness and kurtosis, it is satisfactory for fitting a wide variety of datasets. Also, it can be used to model block maxima or minima data due to its close connection with the standard Gumbel distribution. It is demonstrated that the GG distribution fits more accurately than both of the standard Gumbel and generalized extreme value distributions to block maxima data under specific conditions.  相似文献

In this article, a Bayesian approach is proposed for the estimation of log odds ratios and intraclass correlations over a two-way contingency table, including intraclass correlated cells. Required likelihood functions of log odds ratios are obtained, and determination of prior structures is discussed. Hypothesis testing for log odds ratios and intraclass correlations by using the posterior simulations is outlined. Because the proposed approach includes no asymptotic theory, it is useful for the estimation and hypothesis testing of log odds ratios in the presence of certain intraclass correlation patterns. A family health status and limitations data set is analyzed by using the proposed approach in order to figure out the impact of intraclass correlations on the estimates and hypothesis tests of log odds ratios. Although intraclass correlations are small in the data set, we obtain that even small intraclass correlations can significantly affect the estimates and test results, and our approach is useful for the estimation and testing of log odds ratios in the presence of intraclass correlations.  相似文献

In this article, an extensive Monte Carlo simulation study is conducted to evaluate and compare nonparametric multiple comparison tests under violations of classical analysis of variance assumptions. Simulation space of the Monte Carlo study is composed of 288 different combinations of balanced and unbalanced sample sizes, number of groups, treatment effects, various levels of heterogeneity of variances, dependence between subgroup levels, and skewed error distributions under the single factor experimental design. By this large simulation space, we present a detailed analysis of effects of the violations of assumptions on the performance of nonparametric multiple comparison tests in terms of three error and four power measures. Observations of this study are beneficial to decide the optimal nonparametric test according to requirements and conditions of undertaken experiments. When some of the assumptions of analysis of variance are violated and number of groups is small, use of stepwise Steel-Dwass procedure with Holm's approach is appropriate to control type I error at a desired level. Dunn's method should be employed for greater number of groups. When subgroups are unbalanced and number of groups is small, Nemenyi's procedure with Duncan's approach produces high power values. Conover's procedure successfully provides high power values with a small number of unbalanced groups or with a greater number of balanced or unbalanced groups. At the same time, Conover's procedure is unable to control type I error rates.  相似文献

Modeling of count responses is widely performed via Poisson regression models. This paper covers the problem of variable selection in Poisson regression analysis. The basic emphasis of this paper is to present the usefulness of information complexity-based criteria for Poisson regression. Particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm was adopted to minimize the information criteria. A real dataset example and two simulation studies were conducted for highly collinear and lowly correlated datasets. Results demonstrate the capability of information complexity-type criteria. According to the results, information complexity-type criteria can be effectively used instead of classical criteria in count data modeling via the PSO algorithm.  相似文献

In this article, we propose a new generalized multivariate log-gamma distribution. We consider the usage of the proposed multivariate distribution as the prior distribution in the Bayesian analysis. The generalized multivariate log-gamma distribution allows for the inclusion of prior knowledge on correlations between model parameters when likelihood is not in the form of a normal distribution. Use of the proposed distribution in the Bayesian analysis of log-linear models is also discussed.  相似文献
