Expectiles were introduced by Newey and Powell in 1987 in the context of linear regression models. Recently, Bellini et al. revealed that expectiles can also be seen as reasonable law‐invariant risk measures. In this article, we show that the corresponding statistical functionals are continuous w.r.t. the 1‐weak topology and suitably functionally differentiable. By means of these regularity results, we can derive several properties such as consistency, asymptotic normality, bootstrap consistency and qualitative robustness of the corresponding estimators in nonparametric and parametric statistical models.  相似文献

Both Marcinkiewicz–Zygmund strong laws of large numbers (MZ-SLLNs) and ordinary strong laws of large numbers (SLLNs) for plug-in estimators of general statistical functionals are derived. It is used that if a statistical functional is ‘sufficiently regular’, then an (MZ-)SLLN for the estimator of the unknown distribution function yields an (MZ-)SLLN for the corresponding plug-in estimator. It is in particular shown that many L-, V- and risk functionals are ‘sufficiently regular’ and that known results on the strong convergence of the empirical process of α-mixing random variables can be improved. The presented approach does not only cover some known results but also provides some new strong laws for plug-in estimators of particular statistical functionals.  相似文献

In this article, the property of qualitative robustness is studied for von Mises statistics in the situation where the observations are not necessarily independent but are drawn from a strongly mixing sequence of identically distributed random variables. The notion of qualitative robustness is taken from “Zähle (2012, submitted)” where Huber’s version of Hampel’s original definition was adapted to the case of dependent observations. The main result is illustrated by means of several examples including the sample variance, the sample Gini’s mean difference and the Cramér–von Mises statistic.  相似文献

In this work we re-examine some classical bounds for non negative integer-valued random variables by means of information theoretic or maxentropic techniques using fractional moments as constraints. The proposed new bound, no more analytically expressible in terms of moments or moment generating function (mgf), is built by mixing classical bounds and the Maximum Entropy (ME) approximant of the underlying distribution; such a new bound is able to exploit optimally all the information content provided by the sequence of given moments or by the mgf. Particular care will be devoted to obtain fractional moments from the available information given in terms of integer moments and/or moment generating function. Numerical examples show clearly that the bound improvement involving the ME approximant based on fractional moments is not trivial.  相似文献

We consider the problem of recovering a probability density on a bounded or unbounded subset D of [0, ∞), from the knowledge of its sequence of fractional moments within a maximum entropy (MaxEnt) setup. Based upon entropy convergence results previously formulated, the fractional moments are selected so that the entropy of the MaxEnt approximation be minimum. A geometric interpretation of the reconstruction procedure is formulated as follows: the two moment curves generated by the unknown density and its MaxEnt approximation are interpolating in Hermite-Birkoff sense; that is, they are both interpolating and tangent at the selected nodes.  相似文献

The model of income determination, as introduced by labor market segmentation students, is applied to Polish data. This article argues that divisions between sectors, industries, branches, and enterprises, imposed institutionally by the Polish central management system, determine dimensions of labor market segmentation in Polish society. Research findings demonstrate a substantive effect of economic segmentation dimensions on income inequalities, with industrial divisions affecting income variation the most strongly. The second stage of anaysis shows substantive differences in the process of income determination between five industries. This article argues that industrial differentials cannot be explained away by differences in labor force composition and that there are substantial variations in how worker characteristics are rewarded. The results are interpreted as evidence of the effect of labor market segmentation on social inequalities in Poland. In addition, differences in structural mechanisms of segmentation between Poland and capitalist societies are noted.  相似文献

Abstract

In this paper, we propose maximum entropy in the mean methods for propensity score matching classification problems. We provide a new methodological approach and estimation algorithms to handle explicitly cases when data is available: (i) in interval form; (ii) with bounded measurement or observational errors; or (iii) both as intervals and with bounded errors. We show that entropy in the mean methods for these three cases generally outperform benchmark error-free approaches.  相似文献
