In incident cohort studies, survival data often include subjects who have had an initiate event at recruitment and may potentially experience two successive events (first and second) during the follow-up period. Since the second duration process becomes observable only if the first event has occurred, left-truncation and dependent censoring arise if the two duration times are correlated. To confront the two potential sampling biases, Chang and Tzeng (2006 Chang , S.-H. , Tzeng , S.-J. (2006). Noparametric estimation of sojourn time distributions for truncated serial event data- a weight-adjusted approach. Lifetime Data Anal. 5367.[Crossref], [PubMed], [Web of Science ®] [Google Scholar]) provided an inverse-probability-weighted (IPW) approach for estimating the joint probability function of successive duration times. In this note, an alternative IPW approach is proposed. A simulation study is conducted to compare the two IPW approaches.  相似文献

Consider the model φ(S(y | X)) = β(y) T X, where φ is a known link function, S(· | X) is the survival function of a response Y given a covariate X = (1, X, X 2,…, X p ), and β(y) is an unknown vector of time-dependent regression coefficients. The response Y is subject to left truncation and right censoring. We assume that given X, Y is independent of (C, T) where C and T are censoring and truncation variables with P(C ≥ T) = 1. In this article, with some modification of the assumptions in Lemmas 5 and 6 of Iglesias-Pérez and González-Manteiga (1999 Iglesias-Pérez , C. J. , González-Manteiga , W. G. ( 1999 ). Strong representation of a generalized product-limit estimator for truncated and censored data with some application . J. Nonparametric Statist. 10 : 213244 .[Taylor & Francis Online], [Web of Science ®] [Google Scholar]), we present an almost sure representation for the generalized product-limit estimator (GPL) of S(y | X). Based on the GPL and the approach of Teodorescu et al. (2010 Teodorescu , B. , Keilegom , I. V. , Cao , R. ( 2010 ). Generalized time-dependent conditional linear models under left truncation and right censoring . Ann. Instit. Statist. Math. 62 : 465485 .[Crossref], [Web of Science ®] [Google Scholar]), a least squares estimator of β(y) is obtained and a bootstrap procedure is proposed to choose the optimum bandwidth.  相似文献

It is well known that the nonparametric maximum likelihood estimator (NPMLE) can severely underestimate the survival probabilities at early times for left-truncated and interval-censored (LT-IC) data. For arbitrarily truncated and censored data, Pan and Chappel (JAMA Stat Probab Lett 38:49–57, 1998a, Biometrics 54:1053–1060, 1998b) proposed a nonparametric estimator of the survival function, called the iterative Nelson estimator (INE). Their simulation study showed that the INE performed well in overcoming the under-estimation of the survival function from the NPMLE for LT-IC data. In this article, we revisit the problem of inconsistency of the NPMLE. We point out that the inconsistency is caused by the likelihood function of the left-censored observations, where the left-truncated variables are used as the left endpoints of censoring intervals. This can lead to severe underestimation of the survival function if the NPMLE is obtained using Turnbull’s (JAMA 38:290–295, 1976) EM algorithm. To overcome this problem, we propose a modified maximum likelihood estimator (MMLE) based on a modified likelihood function, where the left endpoints of censoring intervals for left-censored observations are the maximum of left-truncated variables and the estimated left endpoint of the support of the left-censored times. Simulation studies show that the MMLE performs well for finite sample and outperforms both the INE and NPMLE.

In this article, we propose estimating procedures for additive semiparametric transformation models with clustered doubly-censored data. A simulation study is conducted to investigate the performance of the proposed estimators. We apply the proposed methods to the dataset from the well-known Diabetic Retinopathy Study.  相似文献

Doubly truncated data appear in a number of applications, including astronomy and survival analysis. For doubly-truncated data, the lifetime T is observable only when UTV, where U and V are the left-truncated and right-truncated time, respectively. Based on the empirical likelihood approach of Zhou [21 Zhou, M. 2005. Empirical likelihood ratio with arbitrarily censored/truncated data by EM algorithm. J. Comput. Graph. Statist., 14: 643656. [Taylor & Francis Online], [Web of Science ®] [Google Scholar]], we propose a modified EM algorithm of Turnbull [19 Turnbull, B. W. 1976. The empirical distribution function with arbitrarily grouped censored and truncated data. J. R. Stat. Soc. Ser. B, 38: 290295.  [Google Scholar]] to construct the interval estimator of the distribution function of T. Simulation results indicate that the empirical likelihood method can be more efficient than the bootstrap method.  相似文献

Double censoring arises when T represents an outcome variable that can only be accurately measured within a certain range, [L, U], where L and U are the left- and right-censoring variables, respectively. In this note, using Martingale arguments of Chen et al. [3 Chen, K., Jin, Z. and Ying, Z. 2002. Semiparametric analysis of transformation models with censored data. Biometrika, 89: 659668. [Crossref], [Web of Science ®] [Google Scholar]], we propose an estimator (denoted by ?β) for estimating regression coefficients of transformation model when L is always observed. Under Cox proportional hazards model, the proposed estimator is equivalent to the partial likelihood estimator for left-truncated and right-censored data if the left-censoring variables L were regarded as left-truncated variables. In this case, the estimator ?β can be obtained by the standard software. A simulation study is conducted to investigate the performance of ?β. For the purpose of comparison, the simulation study also includes the estimator proposed by Cai and Cheng [2 Cai, T. and Cheng, S. 2004. Semiparametric regression analysis for doubly censored data. Biometrika, 91: 277290. [Crossref], [Web of Science ®] [Google Scholar]] for the case when L and U are always observed.  相似文献

In incident cohort studies, survival data often include subjects who have experienced an initiate event but have not experienced a subsequent event at the calendar time of recruitment. During the follow-up periods, subjects may undergo a series of successive events. Since the second/third duration process becomes observable only if the first/second event has occurred, the data are subject to left-truncation and dependent censoring. In this article, using the inverse-probability-weighted (IPW) approach, we propose nonparametric estimators for the estimation of the joint survival function of three successive duration times. The asymptotic properties of the proposed estimators are established. The simple bootstrap methods are used to estimate standard deviations and construct interval estimators. A simulation study is conducted to investigate the finite sample properties of the proposed estimators.  相似文献

When the distribution of one of the characteristics of a process is non normal, methods based on empirical percentiles suggest the use of several process capability indices (PCIs) which are similar to the usual C p , C pk , C pm , and C pmk indices. However most of these PCIs apply only to the case of symmetrical tolerances. To take into account the asymmetry of the tolerances as well as the asymmetry of the process distribution, new PCIs which improve the previous ones are proposed. In the end and in order to validate the method proposed here, we apply it to a real production case.  相似文献

In this article, we propose three M-estimators for multiple regression model when response variable is subject to twice censoring. The consistency of the proposed M-estimators is established. A simulation study is conducted to investigate the performance of the proposed estimators. Furthermore, the simple bootstrap methods are used to construct interval estimators.  相似文献
