Summary. In many biomedical studies, covariates are subject to measurement error. Although it is well known that the regression coefficients estimators can be substantially biased if the measurement error is not accommodated, there has been little study of the effect of covariate measurement error on the estimation of the dependence between bivariate failure times. We show that the dependence parameter estimator in the Clayton–Oakes model can be considerably biased if the measurement error in the covariate is not accommodated. In contrast with the typical bias towards the null for marginal regression coefficients, the dependence parameter can be biased in either direction. We introduce a bias reduction technique for the bivariate survival function in copula models while assuming an additive measurement error model and replicated measurement for the covariates, and we study the large and small sample properties of the dependence parameter estimator proposed. 相似文献

This paper considers a class of summary measures of the dependence between a pair of failure time variables over a finite follow-up region. The class consists of measures that are weighted averages of local dependence measures, and includes the cross-ratio-measure and finite region version of Kendall's τ; recently proposed by the authors. Two new special cases are identified that can avoid the need to estimate the bivariate survivor function and that admit explicit variance estimators. Nonparametric estimators of such dependence measures are proposed and are shown to be consistent and asymptotically normal with variances that can be consistently estimated. Properties of selected estimators are evaluated in a simulation study, and the method is illustrated through an analysis of Australian Twin Study data. 相似文献

ABSTRACTDespite the fact that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities typically experience a high prevalence of sexual and family violence, service responses have mostly been culturally inappropriate and ineffective. This article reports on a collaborative, participatory research project aimed at exploring barriers to service access by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients when they have been affected by sexual and family violence. The findings reveal multiple barriers to service access, including justice system deterrents, social taboo, shame, and a lack of culturally appropriate services. The article highlights the importance of recognising and addressing the complex interplay of historic, social, and cultural factors influencing service access. 相似文献

This articleconcerns nonparametric estimation of association between bivariatefailure times. In the presence of independent right censoring, the support for failure time variates may be restricted and measuresof dependence over a finite failure time region may be of particularinterest. To this end, the reciprocal cross ratio function, weightedby the bivariate failure time density, is proposed as a summarymeasure of dependence over a failure time region. This `relativerisk' estimator is shown to be consistent and asymptoticallynormally distributed, with consistent bootstrap variance estimator.A finite-region version of Kendall's tau, which is suitable forcensored failure time data, is also proposed, and correspondingasymptotic distribution theory is noted. The accuracy of theseasymptotic approximations is studied in simulations and an illustrationis provided. 相似文献

The experience of familiestrainee and supervisory therapists involved in reflecting team work are explored through the metaphor of ‘journey’ and by asking a small number of our colleagues and clients about their experiences. Ideas gained from this approach are tentatively used to raise some questions about the reflecting team specifically and the current direction of family therapy. More rigorous research into this area is invited. 相似文献

Regression Estimation Using Multivariate Failure Time Data and a Common Baseline Hazard Function Model 总被引:1,自引:1,他引:0
Recent ‘marginal’ methods for the regression analysis of multivariate failure time data have mostly assumed Cox (1972)model
hazard functions in which the members of the cluster have distinct baseline hazard functions. In some important applications,
including sibling family studies in genetic epidemiology and group randomized intervention trials, a common baseline hazard
assumption is more natural. Here we consider a weighted partial likelihood score equation for the estimation of regression
parameters under a common baseline hazard model, and provide corresponding asymptotic distribution theory. An extensive series
of simulation studies is used to examine the adequacy of the asymptotic distributional approximations, and especially the
efficiency gain due to weighting, as a function of strength of dependency within cluster, and cluster size.

The Dabrowska (Ann Stat 16:1475–1489, 1988) product integral representation of the multivariate survivor function is extended, leading to a nonparametric survivor function estimator for an arbitrary number of failure time variates that has a simple recursive formula for its calculation. Empirical process methods are used to sketch proofs for this estimator’s strong consistency and weak convergence properties. Summary measures of pairwise and higher-order dependencies are also defined and nonparametrically estimated. Simulation evaluation is given for the special case of three failure time variates. 相似文献

We recently proposed a representation of the bivariate survivor function as a mapping of the hazard function for truncated
failure time variates. The representation led to a class of estimators that includes van der Laan’s repaired nonparametric
maximum likelihood estimator (NPMLE) as an important special case. We proposed a Greenwood-like variance estimator for the
repaired NPMLE but found somewhat poor agreement between the empirical variance estimates and these analytic estimates for
the sample sizes and bandwidths considered in our simulation study. The simulation results also confirmed those of others
in showing slightly inferior performance for the repaired NPMLE compared to other competing estimators as well as a sensitivity
to bandwidth choice in moderate sized samples. Despite its attractive asymptotic properties, the repaired NPMLE has drawbacks
that hinder its practical application. This paper presents a modification of the repaired NPMLE that improves its performance
in moderate sized samples and renders it less sensitive to the choice of bandwidth. Along with this modified estimator, more
extensive simulation studies of the repaired NPMLE and Greenwood-like variance estimates are presented. The methods are then
applied to a real data example.

Summary. A representation is developed that expresses the bivariate survivor function as a function of the hazard function for truncated failure time variables. This leads to a class of nonparametric survivor function estimators that avoid negative mass. The transformation from hazard function to survivor function is weakly continuous and compact differentiable, so that such properties as strong consistency, weak convergence to a Gaussian process and bootstrap applicability for a hazard function estimator are inherited by the corresponding survivor function estimator. The set of point mass assignments for a survivor function estimator is readily obtained by using a simple matrix calculation on the set of hazard rate estimators. Special cases arise from a simple empirical hazard rate estimator, and from an empirical hazard rate estimator following the redistribution of singly censored observations within strips. The latter is shown to equal van der Laan's repaired nonparametric maximum likelihood estimator, for which a Greenwood-like variance estimator is given. Simulation studies are presented to compare the moderate sample performance of various nonparametric survivor function estimators. 相似文献
