This article reviews the questionnaire that has been prepared for the 1988 census of Poland. Changes in the questions from those asked in previous censuses are noted.     

Facts,Opinions, and Scientific Memes: Reflections of and Recommendations for the March for Science in Germany

Germany ranked second in number of March for Science participants. The current essay is based on a focus group discussion with six participants of a march in a German university town and elucidates their motives for attending, their perceptions of how politically active scientists should be, the goals they think the march should aim to achieve, and their recommendations for future marches. Motives in Germany differed slightly from those mentioned in the United States. Discussants placed importance on the difference between facts and opinions, which is translated into recommendations for issue‐specific future marches.     

Multiple‐Family Group Intervention for Incarcerated Male Adolescents Who Sexually Offend and Their Families: Change in Maladaptive Emotion Regulation Predicts Adaptive Change in Adolescent Behaviors

The multiple‐family group intervention is an effective, yet affordable, 8‐week treatment that is conducted in a juvenile correctional institution in Alabama with adolescents who sexually offend and their families. Data from 115 incarcerated male adolescents and their male and female caregivers collected at pre‐, post‐, and 1‐year follow‐up were used to determine that problem behaviors (internalizing, externalizing) decreased over pre‐ and posttest and the significant decreases in maladaptive emotion regulation predicted those changes. Adolescent‐reported anxiety over abandonment and attachment dependence on parents increased significantly; these changes were predicted by decreases in maladaptive emotion regulation. Linear growth models were also fit over the 3 time points and indicate decreases in adolescent problem behavior and maladaptive emotion regulation.     

Polynomial trends in time series

The J^* test which was previously proposed by the present author for the detection of a trend in a time series does not depend on any quantitative assumptions, but in the case of a polynomial trend it depends on its degree; if this degree is too high, the test cannot be applied. The author finds a bound of the significance level at which the test can be applied when the sample size, as well as a bound of the degree of the trend, are given. Asymptotic results are used only when we trust the asymptotic distribution of J^* under the null hypothesis.
