蒋介石在1942年访问了印度,他企图通过调解英印关系实现其支持中国抗战的目的,结果调停失败。与此同时,英国政府也意识到英印关系的重要性,派克里浦斯出访印度与各派协商谈判,最后仍以失败告终。     

The governance of social enterprises: Mission drift and accountability challenges in hybrid organizations

We examine the challenges of governance facing organizations that pursue a social mission through the use of market mechanisms. These hybrid organizations, often referred to as social enterprises, combine aspects of both charity and business at their core. In this paper we distinguish between two ideal types of such hybrids, differentiated and integrated, and we conceptualize two key challenges of governance they face: accountability for dual performance objectives and accountability to multiple principal stakeholders. We revisit the potential and limitations of recently introduced legal forms to address these challenges. We then theorize about the importance of organizational governance and the role of governing boards in particular, in prioritizing and aligning potentially conflicting objectives and interests in order to avoid mission drift and to maintain organizational hybridity in social enterprises. Finally, we discuss future research directions and the implications of this work for rethinking traditional categories of organizations, namely business and charity.     

Applied Learning: A Project for Graduate Social Work Students

This paper describes a pilot project to develop an effective applied learning experience for graduate social work students. An asset-based social justice model was used as a guide in the development of the project. Importance was placed on the host community determining its own needs and the contributions the students would provide. A partnership with community stakeholders was developed. The stakeholders decided the needs to be addressed and the faculty prepared the students to meet those needs. Successes and limitations of the pilot project are reviewed.

"朝士视察团"考察报告中有关城市社会生活的记载,浓缩了1868-1881年间,明治政府为实现"富国强兵"、"脱亚入欧"和"文明开化"的基本国策,在科学技术、文化教育、思想风尚、生活方式等领域推行的近代化运动和业已取得的斐然成绩,全面展现了日本社会在明治维新之后发生的巨变。此期的日本城市既是日本近代化的产物,又是日本近代化的见证者、亲历者,它从外延和内涵两个方面佐证了日本在近代化道路上的起步、迅跑。该考察报告,实际上是一篇日本近代化的全记录。     

圣母圣心会呼和浩特传教述论

圣母圣心会在呼和浩特传教分晚清时期、民国时期。晚清时期,圣母圣心会传教士把传教的重点放在乡村,在呼和浩特无所作为。进入民国后,调整传教手段,迁址主教府,兴办医院、学校等公益事业,取得了一定效果。

Optimal membership size and the governance of grassroots associations

This paper explores the link between membership size and the governance of grassroots associations. The issue of mission preference heterogeneity is highlighted and its effect on membership size is analyzed by developing a model and conducting a numerical simulation. An important finding is that the degree of heterogeneity of mission preferences in the potential member population has a negative effect on the optimal number of members of the grassroots association. The paper ends with a discussion of the use of governance mechanisms to limit mission drift.     

宁波崇信义塾史略

崇信义塾是近代西方新教差会在中国创办的最早一批新式学校之一,同时也是民国时期著名基督教大学——之江大学的前身。该学校自1845年由美国长老会宁波差会初创,至1867年迁杭,更名育英义塾,发展到后来的育英书院,乃至最后升格为之江大学。其办学形态经历了从小学程度、中学程度直至大学程度的进化转变,实可作为基督教教育在华嬗变发展的生动诠释。此外,崇信义塾办学的诸多方面,如招生、师资队伍、课程设置、教学管理、日常运行、经费收支等,都在当时的差会学校中具有鲜明的代表性。可以说,崇信义塾的办学历史,无论是在中国近代基督教教育史的发展脉络上,还是差会学校早期本土化进程中都具有典型性特点。     

社会转型背景下小组工作教学的思考

本文基于小组工作教学实践,从社会转型的视角思考了小组工作教学的相关问题:教师与学生不平等权利关系;学生丧失了对原初崇高专业使命的追求;学生在实践工作中自信不足、行动力弱,缺乏带领小组的能量等问题。并提出变革课堂权利关系、实现对学生赋权;回归社会工作的专业使命;教师与学生共同生产小组工作知识与技术的教学实践路径。     

中国语文现代化理论再认识

语文现代化的指导思想是语言文字经济学。中国语文现代化就是对中国的语言和文字加以改革或者改良,使中国人有一套简便易学、省力、高效率、方便机器处理的语言、文字工具;“语文现代化”既要研究和完成与“语言规划”、“语言文字应用”、“语言文字规范化、标准化”共同的“目前”任务,又要随形势发展不断提出新的纲领和任务;中国语文现代化在当前阻力强大,任务艰巨。
