The authors use an ecological framework and grounded theoretical analysis to explore the circumstances in which working‐class and low‐income custodial African American fathers gain custody of their children, their transition from part‐time to full‐time parents, and the role of support networks in enhancing or inhibiting these men's parenting. Twenty‐four men from an impoverished Midwestern urban area participated in the study. The findings suggest that these men, and perhaps others sharing their demographic profiles, generally become parents by default and are often reluctant to take on a full‐time, single parenting role. Adaptation to the role seems to be enhanced by these men's use of extended kin support networks and shared living arrangements. However, low wages, a lack of sufficient assistance from public assistance programs, and informal custody arrangements often inhibit their fathering.  相似文献

In the modern western world, the discursive construction of fatherhood and everyday fathering practices has been underpinned by the spatial separation of work from home, of public from private. However, increasing numbers of employees are now working from home and a disproportionate number of these are men with young children. This article draws on new empirical research to examine the implications for fathers and for organizations as home‐working disrupts earlier spatial configurations of fatherhood and fathering practices. The article concludes that as the spatial boundaries between home and work collapse, new accommodations between fatherhood/fathering and organization are emerging. However, these are underpinned by a traditional gender division of labour in the household. More broadly, these findings confirm the inadequacy of static distinctions between public and private, showing that while such distinctions are still used to mark space and time, this is relational, contingent and unstable.  相似文献

In Sweden, government-mandated paid parental leave has been available to both mothers and fathers since 1974. By 2006, each parent had two non-transferable leave months and nine additional months to share. From the beginning, parental leave was presented as a policy designed to promote gender equality, with women and men having equal opportunities and responsibilities to contribute economically to the family and care for children. Sweden thus provides a unique setting to explore whether social policy can be an important instrument for changing the gender contract. Analysing survey data from 356 fathers working in large private companies, we found that the amount of parental leave days taken had positive effects on several aspects of fathers’ participation in childcare and on their satisfaction with contact with children, controlling for other factors contributing to fathers’ participation in childcare. Our findings suggest that the full potential of Sweden's parental leave policy for degendering the division of labour for childcare will not likely be met until fathers are strongly encouraged by social policy to take a more equal portion of parental leave.  相似文献

本研究采用定量分析的方法,对84名天水师范学院非英语专业的学生的口语水平进行测试。根据图式理论,口语任务分为有关键词及句型提示类和无提示类,并对被试的学习策略使用情况做了调查,结果发现,口语任务有提示与无提示对学生的口语成绩有显著影响,这说明图式理论完全适用于大学英语口语教学。  相似文献

随着网络短视频在日常生活中的广泛渗透,以“爸爸带娃”为主题的家庭父职生活也逐渐媒介化。以微信视频号、小红书和抖音三大主流网络平台的短视频为研究对象,采用内容分析法,探究媒介再现父职中的“新父亲”形象,以及媒介再现父职隐含的父职教育契机。研究发现:媒介再现父职以“关爱父职”为主导,关爱父职影响积极且效果良好;父亲参与意愿和参与主动性强;父亲参与的互动性较为充分;平等、亲和、睿智的父亲形象突出;引流变现下的“花式带娃”等多样化“新父亲”形象。鉴于网络传播的巨大影响力和实效性,媒介再现父职的促进路径为:推动新父职理念的传播与实践转向;设立常人榜样,实现父职教育的日常渗透;明确本土化父职研究方向,拓展父亲情感参与维度。  相似文献

利用生存分析研究寿险退保问题是一个很好的工具,因为可以将寿险保单的持续期(persistency duration)视为生存期长,而将保单的退保或失效看作一个“保单生命”的结束,这其中的保单退保或失效就成为生存研究的目标事件。而导致保单失效的因素会有很多,只有通过利用Cox比例危险模型拟合寿险退保数据以分析影响客户退保的原因,并在对Cox模型的比例危险假设进行检验时,发现部分影响因素并不遵守此前提条件,从而推理得到这些影响因素在不同的时间段对客户退保的影响方式不同。也就是说,其影响有短期效应和长期效应之分。  相似文献

ABSTRACT

A general class of models for discrete and/or continuous responses is proposed in which joint distributions are constructed via the conditional approach. It is assumed that the distributions of one response and of the other response given the first one belong to exponential family of distributions. Furthermore, the marginal means are related to the covariates by link functions and a dependency structure between the responses is inserted into the model. Estimation methods, diagnostic analysis and a simulation study considering a Bernoulli-exponential model, a particular case of the class, are presented. Parenting programmes are recommended as an effective means to support parents in promoting positive relationships with, and managing the behaviour of, their children. One barrier that impedes their successful implementation is that partners, especially fathers, are less frequently recruited by child welfare services. This article reports on a study that investigated how both parents were engaged with parenting services. Direct recordings were made of initial telephone conversations between six practitioners and 28 parents referred to those services and investigated for evidence of how the other parent was recruited. Conversation analysis was used to identify how participants introduced the possibility of both parents being included in the service, how these possibilities were negotiated, and what eventual agreements were made for both parents to be included in future arrangements. Implications for practice, training, and future research are considered.  相似文献
