How can David orchestrate resources to enhance firm performance? A dynamic approach to coping with resource constraints

Given that the possession of abundant resources does not always guarantee superior firm performance, this study proposes a dynamic approach to enhancing firm value. Building on the resource orchestration thesis, we investigate how firms facing resource constraints enhance their capabilities over time by orchestrating resources and how this resource orchestration can play a role in improving firm performance. Using the dynamic perspective, this study identifies four resource orchestration modes, which are specified based on how a given firm dynamically allocates its resources to technology (enacted by R&D activities) and marketing (enacted by advertising activities). Accordingly, we claim that firms with resource constraints can enhance their performance by escalating or altering their resources over time. To test our hypotheses, we used a sample of 4078 small and medium-sized enterprises in manufacturing industries between 1984 and 2018. We found that focus escalation for technology positively affects firm performance, captured by Tobin's q, and that focus alternation toward either technology or market is positively related to firm performance. Finally, we discuss the theoretical and practical implications of our findings.

职业力主要包含三方面基本要素或能力:马克思主义运用力、完善的品德心理结构和职业技能。职业力的提升,根植于马克思主义基本观点、立场、方法,离不开思想政治教育。当前,高职院校纷纷走上"工学交替"的快车道,在"工学交替"中加强思想政治教育对提升高职学生职业力有着十分重要的意义。思想政治教育是高职学生职业定向的前提;是提高高职学生马克思主义运用力的根本途径;是对高职学生进行职业道德教育的基本途径;是提高高职学生职业技能的内驱力。     

Seasonal host alternation by the andromeda lace bug,Stephanitis takeyai (Heteroptera: Tingidae) between its two main host-plant species

I studied the seasonal occurrence of the andromeda lace bug,Stephanitis takeyai, on its two main host-plant species. In a secondary forest in Kyoto, this bug altered its hosts seasonally, i.e., from an evergreen shrub,Pieris japonica, in winter to a deciduous shrub,Lyonia elliptica, in summer. In contrast, in Nara park where fewL. elliptica were available, the bug exploited onlyP. japonica. Thus, seasonal host alternation by this bug is not obligate. A comparison of adult longevity and fecundity on the two host-plant species demonstrated the higher quality ofL. elliptica as a food resource. Corresponding to this difference in host quality, there was a dramatic difference in the seasonal population growth in the two study sites. In Nara, the population size at the beginning of the 2nd generation was almost the same as in the overwintered generation, whereas in Kyoto the population size in the 2nd generation was approximately one hundred times as large as in the overwintered generation. Thus seasonal host alternation is adaptive for the bug. In a previous study, I reported that overwintering as eggs in living leaves of their hosts is likely to be common among all the related species of this bug. Thus, this trait can be considered to be a phylogenetic constraint to the group. I speculate that host alternation by this bug has been derived because it is more adaptive from autoecy on an evergreen plant, similar to the pattern currently found in Nara, and that this bug can not only exploit deciduous host due to a phylogenetic constraint.

本文在局部 Haar 条件下,讨论了紧空间上非线性 Dunham 型 Chebyshev 同时逼近,得到了同时逼近为局部最佳的充分必要条件;给出了与非线性同时逼近问题等价的相关线性同时逼近问题;证明了极小集的存在性,在这个极小集上的局部最佳逼近为局部最佳的;获得了区间上非线性同时逼近的交错定理;证明了非线性同时逼近的α阶(α≥1)的强唯一常数等于其相关线性同时逼近的α阶强唯一常数。     

唐“安西四镇”之碎叶问题研究综述

在唐朝设置的"安西四镇"中,据现有文献材料显示,碎叶时有时无,且存在着碎叶与焉耆相互交替的情况。而有关碎叶的设置问题,论争一直没有停息过,曾有不少学者对此反复加以探讨。近年来,随着考古工作的不断深入,新材料的不断出现,碎叶是否为安西四镇,这个问题也一步步清晰化。目前,唐代碎叶城的地理位置已经考定。本文试图从旧史料出发,结合中外文献有关论述和中外学者的研究成果,对碎叶的确立、隶属及其现实意义进行梳理。     

论合同法中情事变更原则的历史沿革

主要探讨了合同法中的情事变更原则在大陆法系、英美法系、国际条约以及我国法律中的兴衰历程 ,着重考察了该原则产生的历史必然性和现实必要性 ,旨在为完善我国合同法提供参考意见。     

Code eclecticism: Linguistic variation and code alternation in the chat language of Flemish teenagers1

This paper deals with written chat language produced by West‐Flemish teenagers. By analyzing some exemplary data in a quantitative and a qualitative way, it is demonstrated that the chatspeak of the adolescents reflects the wide range of varieties which belong to the verbal repertoire of the youngest generation. The teenagers generally create a ‘regional style’ but do not aim at rendering local dialect speech faithfully. The medium appears to offer the teenagers an opportunity to appropriate (written) Dutch and transform it into a multilayered heterogeneous variety by combining several varieties of Dutch in a very eclectic way. Finally, it is argued that the findings question the polarized view of Dutch in Flanders that has been prominent in the public debate both amongst linguists and non‐linguists in the past decades. Dit artikel doet verslag van onderzoek naar de geschreven chattaal van West‐Vlaamse tieners. Kwantitatieve en kwalitatieve data‐analyses tonen dat de ‘chatspeak’ van de adolescenten een afspiegeling biedt van het hele scala aan variëteiten die tot het linguïstische repertoire van de jongste generatie behoren. De tieners creëren een soort ‘regionale stijl’, maar zij beogen geen accurate weergave van (hun) dialect. Het chatmedium biedt hen de mogelijkheid om zich het (geschreven) Nederlands toe te eigenen en het te transformeren in een gelaagde en heterogene variëteit door een heel eclectische combinatie van verschillende variëteiten. Vanuit deze bevindingen worden er vragen gesteld bij de gepolariseerde visie die de jongste decennia het publieke debat rond het Nederlands in Vlaanderen gedomineerd heeft.     

票据的伪造、变造问题研究

票据必须符合票据法规范,一旦存在瑕疵,将影响票据权利的行使。票据伪造、票据变造是典型的票据瑕疵问题。票据伪造和票据变造,会给票据的持票人、付款人以及伪造、变造票据的行为人带来相应的法律后果,使该票据关系的相关主体承担极大的风险。有必要对付款人承担的错误付款风险,给予必要的法律救济,加重受让伪造、变造票据人的风险责任。对票据伪造和票据变造进行规定,完善中国票据法对票据变造的界定。
