Balanced factorial designs are introduced for cDNA microarray experiments. Single replicate designs obtained using the classical method of confounding are shown to be particularly useful for deriving suitable balanced designs for cDNA microarrays. Classical factorial designs obtained using methods other than the method of confounding are also shown to be useful. The paper provides a systematic method of deriving designs for microarray experiments as opposed to algorithmic and ad-hoc methods and generalizes several of the microarray designs given recently in the literature. 相似文献

This paper aims to connect Bayesian analysis and frequentist theory in the context of multiple comparisons. The authors show that when testing the equality of two sample means, the posterior probability of the one‐sided alternative hypothesis, defined as a half‐space, shares with the frequentist P‐value the property of uniformity under the null hypothesis. Ultimately, the posterior probability may thus be used in the same spirit as a P‐value in the Benjamini‐Hochberg procedure, or in any of its extensions. 相似文献

Performance of Gene Selection and Classification Methods in a Microarray Setting: A Simulation Study
In a previous article, we investigated the performance of several classification methods for cDNA-microarrays. Via simulations, various experimental settings could be explored without having to conduct expensive microarray studies. For the selection of genes, on which classification was based, one particular method was applied. Gene selection is, however, a very important aspect of classification. We extend the previous study by considering several gene selection methods. Furthermore, the stability of the methods with respect to distributional assumptions is examined by also considering data simulated from a symmetric and asymmetric Laplace distribution, in addition to normally distributed microarray data. 相似文献
