While the negative impact of child‐raising and caring on women's career progression in academia is well‐established, less is known about the role of academic women's lived experiences of maternity leave as an institutional practice. This article presents the findings of a qualitative study of the lived experiences of female academics and researchers in an Irish university. The analysis intrinsically links organizational structures and problems with the lived and felt dimensions of work. The findings point to the need for better structural accommodations for maternity leave which address the relationship between caring and career disadvantage within academia. The article adds to existing literature on the intersection of motherhood and academia by unpicking the specific role of maternity leave as both a lived experience and an institutional practice that can reinforce gender inequalities in academia.  相似文献

In this article, we explore forms and possible implications of new masculinities in universities, and elucidate how they relate to hegemonic masculinity. ‘New masculinities’ coins a particular tradition of naming in Nordic masculinity studies. In the Nordic context, gendered social relations are shaped by State policies and equality discourses, which are increasingly embracing father‐friendly initiatives. New masculinities refers to the increased involvement of men in caring practices and especially in fathering. Our empirical study comprises in‐depth interviews with young male academics in a Finnish business school. We elucidate, first, the ambivalence and struggles between masculinities in the discourses of these men and, second, how the construction of masculinities is specific to societal, sociocultural and local contexts. Relations of class, and middle‐class notions of the ‘good life’ in particular, emerge as central for understanding the experiences of these men. Beyond the Nordic countries, we argue that while the change potential of caring masculinity stems from particular contexts, the concept of new masculinities is helpful in capturing the ambivalence and struggles between hegemonic and caring masculinities rather than dismissing the latter as subordinate to the former.  相似文献

长春市人口计生委率先提出的人性关爱、人情关爱和人文关爱,即“三关爱”理念,体现了一种自外而内、从下到上的追求,勾画出了计划生育文明的思路框架。人性关爱体现了权利本位的思想,尊重群众,理解群众。人情关爱体现了服务本位的思想。人文关爱体现了文化本位的思想。“三关爱”化解矛盾、创造和谐、促进发展。“三关爱”对政府的工作提出了全新要求,体现了管理型计划生育向服务型计划生育的历史转轨,重民权、合民情、贴民心,构成抓好人口计生工作、提升人口计生工作质量的新动力,是新时期人口计生工作值得关注的重要导向。  相似文献

马克思主义哲学中国化可分为两个层次。一是中国共产党领导人,根据中国革命斗争、中国社会主义建设的需要,结合中国现实,将马克思主义哲学中国化。一是马克思主义哲学和中国传统文化相结合,即从学理的层面、从理论的核心深处促进马克思主义哲学与中国文化的融合。马克思主义哲学与中国传统文化的融合主要是指与儒家哲学的融合,两种哲学融合的基础在于两种理论的核心深处存有着人类社会的共同法则,即对人的终极关怀与强烈的实践思想。当马克思主义哲学能很好地将中国儒家思想包融于自身时,这无疑是马克思主义哲学中国化的又一次伟大飞跃。  相似文献

理清农民工作回报期望的影响因素进而精准施策,对于破解城乡发展不平衡和满足农民对美好生活的向往意义重大。利用Multinomial Logistic模型和CGSS2015相关数据的实证研究结论发现:以主观社会经济地位和外出务工经历为代表的主观感知性因素是影响农民工作回报期望的关键,而以养老责任和未成年子女数量为代表的客观责任因素的影响则不显著。同时,受教育程度也是影响农民工作回报期望的重要因素,受教育程度为初中及以下的农民对生理回报和安全回报有更强烈的诉求。  相似文献

This article comments on infantilisation by attending to South African adult intellectual disability (ID) care through an intersubjective ethics of care lens, and shows how such an ethic can shine light on shifting our responses towards ID. Care performance data were gathered from three sources within two South African specialist ID care sites – from 10 adult residents, 16 nurses as spatiotemporal carers, and three wards as ethnographic sites. Deeply embedded and interwoven throughout various care practices is the disabling of adults with intellectual impairment when literally referred to as ‘children’. These adult-unmaking processes constitute practices that fall short of Tronto and Kittay’s caring societies ethic. Care exchanges generate relational and intersubjective spaces in which people are understood as never meeting full criteria for personhood. Infantilising care dynamics require urgent attention if we wish to change ways in which ID is viewed and responded to in South Africa.  相似文献

在人口老龄化的背景下,社区居家养老模式逐渐成为应对老龄化危机的重要方式。但该模式在资金与服务上面临困境,普惠型的全民社保体系为社区居家养老的发展带来了新的契机。养老保险、社会救助和老年津贴等收入保障制度筑牢了居家老年人经济供养的基础,医疗保险、医疗救助和基层医疗卫生服务等医疗保健制度从经济补偿与服务提供双方面支撑起该模式的发展。但是尚不完善的全民社保制度无法完全解决社区居家养老模式面临的问题与挑战。社区居家养老模式的可持续发展出路在于抓住历史机遇,重构参与主体之责任,充分发挥社区的主体作用,以实现健康老龄化。  相似文献

This paper is concerned with understandings of neglect in child care social work. It is a theoretical discussion in which the social construction of neglect is examined through an analysis of the relationship between 'care' and neglect. In particular, I explore the gendered nature of 'care' and the possible feminizing of its correlate, neglect. I consider the links between gender, race and caring, and how these interact in 'achieving' femininity, and go on to look at the relationship between ideas of care and the 'natural' mother. This, in turn, is linked to a discussion of social work responses to neglect. I argue the need for feminist analyses of neglect as a significant area of abuse – analyses that can parallel the important insights that have been offered in relation to other areas of child abuse, and can contribute to the development of effective social work intervention strategies.  相似文献
