Adaptation and Evaluation of a Group Curriculum for Latino Clients in a Driving Under the Influence Program

The purpose of this study was to describe the process of culturally adapting group curriculum modules for Spanish speaking clients in a Driving Under the Influence Program as well as to test the acceptability of these modules. Using the Group Topics Evaluation Scale (English and Spanish version), 90 clients rated six modules that were presented in 30 different group sessions. Spanish speaking clients were significantly more likely to rate all six modules much higher than their English speaking counterparts, indicating acceptability. This is important as driving-under-the-influence programs may provide access to Latino clients not seen elsewhere. Possible further research is discussed.     

Military-civilian differences in a driving under the influence (DUI) program sample

ABSTRACT

It is unknown how military-connected participants in DUI programs differ from civilians on sociodemographic, health, and alcohol severity factors. This study analyzed data from 19,639 DUI program participants from 2009 to 2014. Compared to civilians, active duty participants were younger, more likely male and married/partnered or separated, less likely disabled, more likely to be Black, less likely to report anxiety or involvement in domestic violence, more likely to report prior alcohol treatment and having a first-time conviction, and less likely to score in the problematic drinking category. Veterans showed patterns similar to those of active duty with some notable exceptions. Results may be helpful in tailoring culturally competent DUI program content, particularly among social workers who often serve this population.     

门诊口服质子泵抑制剂用药分析

目的了解我院质子泵抑制剂的门诊用药情况,旨在为其临床合理应用提供依据。方法随机抽取我院2012年1～12月的门诊处方共26107张进行回顾性调查,并采用Excel程序软件对门诊患者口服质子泵抑制剂的基本情况、用药频度（DDDs）以及药物利用指数（DUI）等指标进行统计分析。结果26107张处方中共有1154张使用质子泵抑制剂,应用率4．42％,其中为雷贝拉唑63．43％,泮托拉唑14．90％,奥美拉唑12．65％以及兰索拉唑9．01％;用药频度（DDDs）以兰索拉唑最多,奥美拉唑最少;另从药物利用指数（DUI）得知,用药合格率介于64％～67％。结论我院对于该类药物的应用基本合理,但从DUI看,其用药合格率偏低,因而在临床应用中应注意根据患者的具体情况谨慎用药,以保证用药安全有效。
