买地券作为一种随葬明器,是非常宝贵的碑刻材料.从买地券所保留的文字而言,或因文字有所磨泐而漫漶不清,或俗讹字形近字较多,或用典使事、言辞深奥等原因,致使已经刊出的许多买地券在文字释读上存在不当之处.笔者尝试加以指正.

自1972年颁布<教育法第九篇修正案>(Title Ⅸ)以来,美国女性在获得教育机会平等方面取得了巨大的进步.文章根据<教育法第九篇修正案>以及1997年和2003年的两个报告,概述了美国女性迈向教育机会平等的30年历程.     

语境顺应论在英文电影片名翻译中的应用研究

随着国际间文化交流的不断加深,电影作为一种流行的大众传媒方式越来越多地涌入国际市场;并以其受众面广,表达形式多样发挥着信息传播和文化交流的作用。电影不仅在教育、娱乐等方面不断发展,其商业功能也越来越受到人们的重视。这一切都对电影的翻译,特别是电影片名的翻译提出了新挑战。由于汉民族文化与英美文化之间不同的文化因素、表达习惯、商业因素等,因此译者在翻译片名时,语境顺应对电影片名翻译的影响和制约尤为重要,语境制约翻译、翻译依赖语境。语境顺应是实现理想翻译的关键,也是评价译文质量的主要标准。本文主要从电影片名的特点和功能着手,论述了语境顺应论在电影片名翻译中的功效和指导意义。     

Effects of Organizational Environment,Internal Structure,and Team Climate on the Effectiveness of Local Emergency Planning Committees1

This study proposed and tested a model of factors influencing the effectiveness of Local Emergency Planning Committees (LEPCs). Data were collected from the chairs of Michigan LEPCs, who were asked to provide information about their LEPCs’staffing, activities, resources, and team climate, as well as information about community hazards and relationships with other organizations in their communities. The model was partially supported. As hypothesized, team climate substantially mediated the relationships between an LEPCs effectiveness and many of the attributes of its internal structure and external environment. In addition, three (emergency planning resources, community support and LEPC staffing and structure) out of four categories of variables hypothesized to influence team climate were, in fact directly related to it. There were two major inconsistencies with the model. First, two types of emergency planning resources were found to have a direct influence on LEPC effectiveness rather than an indirect effect mediated by team climate. In addition, hazard vulnerability was hypothesized to have a direct effect on team climate, but the data showed this relationship was mediated by community support and by LEPC staffing and structure. A revised model was proposed that suggests ways in which members can change the structure of an LEPC and strategies to enhance its effectiveness.     

Use of Title IV-E Funding in BSW Programs

Summary

Title IV-E provides resources that allow social work education and state child welfare agencies to collaborate to provide an educational experience that prepares students to move quickly into a complex practice experience. In 1998-1999 all BSW programs that were accredited and in candidacy were surveyed to see if they were using Title IV-E funds to provide support for students who would agree to work in public child welfare programs after graduation. The questionnaire used was based on Zlotnik's earlier survey (Zlotnik & Cornelius, 2000) of all programs receiving IV-E funds. Of the 464 BSW programs surveyed, 282 replied, 59% of these were public institutions, the rest private. Forty-eight schools reported receiving some type of IV-E funding for students. Results indicate a number of models are used to support collaboration between the schools and their state agencies. These include differences in the requirements of students while they are in school and after graduation and in the amount of funding available to students. In addition, institutions not receiving IV-E funds were asked to describe why they were not. Implications for BSW programs are discussed.

Liberal multiculturalism as practised in Australia makes demands upon Indigenous minorities to demonstrate their traditionality. Taking examples from recent Australian land and native title claims, the paper illustrates notions of ‘tradition’ generated and applied in these processes. It explores the demand for tradition as an aspect of a liberal economy of values, showing that limitations of liberal perspectives in regard to the recognition of indigenous entitlement are inherent to its economistic framework. It suggests kinds of issues that need to be addressed in the envisioning of a post-liberal approach.     

Title IX: Help or Hindrance?

ABSTRACT

The goal of this article is to provide a practical guidance for anyone who has experienced sexual harassment or assault in academia and is considering the possibility of pursuing disciplinary measures by means of filing a Title IX complaint. Sexual harassment is an abuse of power by those who possess it against those who do not; the Title IX process does not remedy this power imbalance. And, academic institutions often have interests that compete with the welfare of their students, and which may enable harassers. We address some of the risks that the Title IX process may create for those who are already vulnerable, and suggest that some of the responsibility for enacting reforms should be taken up by professional associations. Because they often control professional journals and conferences, they could be effective advocates for a more fair and equitable educational environment if they choose to take a more active role in discouraging misconduct in their disciplines.     

The California Collaboration

Summary

This article documents the Title IV-E child welfare social work project of the California Social Work Education Center (CalS WEC): The establishment and ongoing support of collaborative arrangements among 58 California counties, the California State Department of Social Services, and all of the California graduate social work schools. The primary goal of this collaboration is to produce MS Ws who will commit to helping disadvantaged children and families in publicly supported child welfare services. The project model contains five interdependent components: a competency-based curriculum, financial support for students, development of instructional materials, active participation among public child welfare agencies and the universities, and evaluation.

This paper focuses on the collaborative curriculum development process. Evolving arrangements among stakeholders are described here in terms of the reciprocal adjustment of curriculum development and field and classroom instruction to prepare MSWs for public child welfare careers.
