Introducción: Monográfico sobre el impacto psicosocial tras el 11-M

Resumen

En el presente monográfico se muestran investigaciones que permiten entender los procesos psicosociales subyacentes a la “resiliencia colectiva” tras el 11-M. Los artículos abordan qué efectos psicosociales tiene la participación en las manifestaciones (Jiménez, Páez y Javaloy), las relaciones intergrupales que se desencadenan tras los atentados (Techio y Calderón-Prada), el efecto “oveja negra” tras los sucesos (Mendoza, Páez, Marques, Techio y Espinosa), la percepción de riesgo y las reacciones emocionales tras el impacto terrorista (Ubillos, Mayordomo y Basabe). También, se analiza el fenómeno de culpa colectiva (Etxebarria, Conejero y Ramos de Oliveira), las reacciones psico-políticas (Moya y Morales-Marente), la influencia de los procesos de comunicación sobre las elecciones del 14-M (López-Sáez y Martínez-Rubio), el modelo sociocultural de los rituales (Páez, Rimé y Basabe), y además, se incluye un artículo sobre la invasión de Irak (Rodrigues, Assmar y Jablonski). Finalmente, se exponen los comentarios sobre el libro de Blanco, del Aguila y Sabucedo (2005).     

The psychosocial benefits of work for people with severe and enduring mental health problems

Perceptions of the value of work for people with severe and enduring mental health problems have changed frequently over the last two decades. With the new social inclusion agenda manifest in the Disability Discrimination Act and in the NHS modernization agenda, work is once again in vogue. There is a need for a way of evaluating work which draws on its potential contribution to psychological well-being as well as its provision of a valued social role and which is less susceptible to fluctuations in health and social policy. Jahoda's work on the psychosocial functions of work provides such a framework and this study sets out to explore its utility among workers who are severely disabled by mental health problems. Twelve of the psychosocial functions of work were rated by 50 people attending two sheltered work placements according to how important they were perceived to be and the extent to which the functions were fulfilled through their attendance. Satisfaction of the psychosocial functions through work was compared with their satisfaction through other aspects of the respondents’ lives. All functions were perceived as important, but self-confidence/self-esteem was rated as more important than most of the others. Structure to the day, self-confidence and social contact were better satisfied through work than were decision making, practising old skills and having goals to aim for. In general, the results showed that the functions were fulfilled better by work than by other aspects of the respondents’ lives. The study supports the notion that work is of value in the rehabilitation of people with severe and enduring mental health problems and offers a possible framework for the further exploration of this theme, both within mental health services and the community at large.     

Una evaluación de las dinámicas psicosociales relacionadas con la organización terrorista ETA y la política antiterrorista del gobierno español entre 2004 y 2008

Resumen

Este artículo analiza las principales iniciativas adoptadas en relación con la negociación con la organización terrorista ETA por parte del gobierno español entre 2004 y 2008 demostrando la relevancia que destacados mecanismos psicosociales tuvieron para la defensa de la política antiterrorista aplicada en ese periodo. El examen de las medidas políticas adoptadas expone una profusa utilización, por parte del gobierno y de otros actores democráticos, de técnicas orientadas a la conformación de opiniones mediante la distorsión de la realidad del terrorismo de ETA. La manipulación de la realidad, ejercicio similar al acometido regularmente por ETA y por otras organizaciones terroristas, llevó al gobierno y a diversos medios de comunicación a tergiversar los argumentos fundamentales sobre los que se diseñó la política antiterrorista del periodo objeto de análisis con el fin de obtener el respaldo de la opinión pública. Por tanto se estudiarán las variables psicosociales utilizadas para construir discursos con los que se argumentó a favor de la política gubernamental, analizándose también las racionalizaciones con las que se justificó a pesar de unos costes constantemente negados.
