BDSM Role Fluidity: A Mixed-Methods Approach to Investigating Switches Within Dominant/Submissive Binaries

This mixed-methods study of BDSM investigates the nuances of BDSM participants’ role identities, role frequencies, and role fluidities—shifts in identities and play across time, location, scene, and play partner. Data were gathered from 202 online surveys and 25 semistructured interviews about participants’ roles given their gender and sexual identities. These data reveal that men tend to self-identify as Dominant, Master, Top, or Sadist (DMTS) and always perform dominant roles, while women tend to self-identify as Submissive, Slave, Bottom, or Masochist (SSBM) and always perform submissive roles. Although this would seem to support the theory that BDSM reinforces gendered dominant/submissive binaries, further analyses indicate that women and queer/pansexual individuals disrupt this binary through their Switch identities and roles. Switching and queer identities, thus, offer the possibility for transforming dominant/submissive and other binaries.

The Stability of Social Groups in Childhood and Adolescence: The Role of the Classroom Social Environment.

This study provides a developmental analysis of childhood and adolescent social relationships within the school context. The social groups of 220 fourth graders and 475 seventh graders were tracked over a one year interval. The initial results indicated that approximately 30% of the social groups were identified as stable in that they maintained at least 50% of their membership over the one year interval. However, the stability in group affiliations was a function of the stability of the composition of the classroom. When schools did not promote classrooms as a unit, only 6.8% of social groups were stable, as compared to 55% of groups being stable when the school did promote classrooms as a unit. This school effect in group stability was demonstrated by a high correlation (rs = .97) between classroom stability and group stability. Even in unstable classrooms, individuals were more likely to maintain affiliations when group members were assigned to the same classroom. This work suggests that stable environments promote stable relationships, which in turn, may promote greater continuity in the organization of behavioral patterns.     

Foreclosing Fluidity at the Intersection of Gender and Sexual Normativities

Binary gender and sexuality are socially constructed, but they structure thought at such a deep level that even those critical of sexism and homophobia can unwittingly reproduce them, with consequences felt most profoundly by those whose gender/sexual identity defy binary logic. This article outlines a generic pattern in the reproduction of inequality we call foreclosing fluidity, the symbolic or material removal of fluid possibilities from sexual and gender experience and categorization. Based on 115 responses from people who are both sexually and gender fluid and a reading of existing sociologies of gender and sexualities from a fluid standpoint, we demonstrate how lesbian/gay/straight, cisgender, and transgender women and men—regardless of intentions—may foreclose fluidity by mobilizing cisnormative, transnormative, heteronormative, and/or homonormative beliefs and practices. Examining patterns of foreclosing fluidity may provide insight into (1) the further incorporation of fluid people and standpoints into symbolic interactionism, and (2) the reproduction and persistence of sexual and gender inequalities.     

家电行业员工流动性与对策——以慈溪家电企业员工流动性实证分析为例

在知识经济时代,企业内员工的流动性大幅度增加,尤其是中小企业更加明显,不仅会影响到企业的长远发展,对社会稳定也造成了一定的影响。文章采用调查问卷的方式,对慈溪市家电企业员工流动的影响因素进行实证分析,从企业角度提出了进行人力资源规划、健全企业选拔和用人机制、提倡以人为本的企业文化建设等过程性管理措施,以期对慈溪市家电企业加强员工的有效管理,降低其流动率有所帮助。     

当前人民币国际化面临的主要问题及对策

人民币国际化是当前我国克服不合理的国际货币体系带来的一系列问题和负面影响的必要途径。人民币国际化的进程中,面临着人民币输出国外的困境、人民币资产流动性所要求的资本管制开放对国内金融体系的冲击、国内经济持续增长的隐患这几个方面的问题。当前应通过推广货币互换安排、建立和发展人民币离岸金融市场、推动国内各项体制的改革来克服和解决这些问题。       

基于生产要素流动的产业集群演化实证研究——以古镇灯饰产业集群为例

本文以中山古镇灯饰产业集群演化为实证研究对象,研究方法采用结构方程模型（StructuralEquationModeling,SEM）,通过问卷调查获得数据,结合LISREL8．8软件检验已经建立的模型,并修正模型使其更加符合当地实情。研究结论表明：知识、社会资本、劳动力这三个要素对古镇灯饰产业集群的演化有较强的影响作用,而资源要素对集群演化影响较弱。集体学习与知识共享网络、集群企业间紧密的竞合互动氛围以及带有丰富技能的劳动力是古镇灯饰产业集群在长期演化过程中胜出的关键,而在今后的集群发展中,强化知识和社会资本的作用,从这两个方面引导集群发展会起到事半功倍的效果。

Testosterone replacement therapy improves erythrocyte membrane lipid composition in hypogonadal men

Aim: The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) on erythrocyte membrane (EM) lipid composition and physico-chemical properties in hypogonadal men. Methods: EM isolated from three patients before and after TRT with injectable testosterone undecanoate or testosterone gel were used for analysis of the phospholipid and fatty acid composition, cholesterol/phospholipid ratio, membrane fluidity, ceramide level and enzyme acivities responsible for sphingomyelin metabolism. Results: TRT induced increase of phosphatidylethanolamine (PE) in the EMs and sphingomyelin. Reduction of the relative content of the saturated palmitic and stearic fatty acids and a slight increase of different unsaturated fatty acids was observed in phosphatidylcholine (PC). TRT also induced decrease of the cholesterol/total phospholipids ratio and fluidization of the EM. Discussion: The TRT induced increase of PE content and the reduction of saturation in the PC acyl chains induced alterations in the structure of EM could result in higher flexibility of the erythrocytes. The increase of the SM-metabolizing enzyme neutral sphingomyelinase, which regulates the content of ceramide in membranes has a possible impact on the SM signaling pathway. Conclusion: We presume that the observed effect of TRT on the composition and fluidity of the EM contributes for improvement of blood rheology and may diminish the thrombosis risk. Larger studies are needed to confirm the findings of this pilot study.
