Abstract

In this lightning talk for the North Carolina Serials Conference, Lynnee Argabright describes the efforts of the ORCID team at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In addition to discussing the team’s pop-up outreach planning and documentation, Argabright shares advice from the team’s experience on how to run an effective ORCID pop-up event to facilitate faculty ORCID registration.  相似文献

Abstract

Researchers have increasing opportunities to identify themselves and raise the profile of their research and scholarship through online researcher identity management and researcher profile systems. This column provides a basic introduction to researcher identity management and examines four widely used researcher profile systems: Google Scholar Citations, Open Researcher and Contributor Identifier (ORCID), Scopus Author ID, and Web of Science ResearcherID. System benefits and comparisons are provided, with the purpose of helping researchers and librarians to select appropriate researcher identity management tools to support their work.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

A number of factors can make it difficult to consistently and accurately identify individual researchers and their scholarly activities. One solution is to use unique author identifiers. Many author identifiers are available from inside and outside the library community. This column will, in lay terms, compare Scopus Author ID, ResearcherID, ORCID identifier, and ISNI (International Standard Name Identifier)—some of the more commonly used author identifiers—and explore the advantages and disadvantages of each. It will examine the differences among the four identifiers and their relationships to one another.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Author identity is a challenging problem for automation systems working with bibliographic resources. ORCID author identifiers are perceived as a simple and effective way to address this problem, but in order to accomplish this, ORCID identifiers need widespread adoption by researchers, organizations, and bibliographic automation systems. This column, the second of two, surveys how some libraries, publishers, and other research organizations are using ORCID identifiers to address the problem of author identity across different systems and workflows.  相似文献
