This article studies design selection for generalized linear models (GLMs) using the quantile dispersion graphs (QDGs) approach in the presence of misspecification in the link and/or linear predictor. The uncertainty in the linear predictor is represented by a unknown function and estimated using kriging. For addressing misspecified link functions, a generalized family of link functions is used. Numerical examples are shown to illustrate the proposed methodology.  相似文献

In this paper a method for the construction of a class of row-column designs with good statistical properties and high efficiency is presented. The class of designs produced is shown to exhibit balance, orthogonality and adjusted orthogonality. The efficiencies of these designs are investigated in detail, and they are shown to be very high, and possibly maximal in some cases.  相似文献

Summary.  We describe smooth non-stationary generalized additive modelling for sample extremes, in which spline smoothers are incorporated into models for exceedances over high thresholds. Fitting is by maximum penalized likelihood estimation, with uncertainty assessed by using differences of deviances and bootstrap simulation. The approach is illustrated by using data on extreme winter temperatures in the Swiss Alps, analysis of which shows strong influence of the north Atlantic oscillation. Benefits of the new approach are flexible and appropriate modelling of extremes, more realistic assessment of estimation uncertainty and the accommodation of complex dependence patterns.  相似文献

The objective of this paper is to study U-type designs for Bayesian non parametric response surface prediction under correlated errors. The asymptotic Bayes criterion is developed in terms of the asymptotic approach of Mitchell et al. (1994 Mitchell, T., Sacks, J., Ylvisaker, D. (1994). In this article, we discuss asymptotic properties of marginal least-square estimator for ultrahigh-dimensional linear regression models. We are specifically interested in probabilistic consistency of the marginal least-square estimator in the presence of correlated errors. We show that under a partial orthogonality condition, the marginal least-square estimator can achieve variable selection consistency. In addition, we demonstrate that if a mutual orthogonality holds, the marginal least-square estimator satisfies estimation consistency. The discussed theories are exemplified through extensive simulation studies.  相似文献

This paper presents a simple computational procedure for generating ‘matching’ or ‘cloning’ datasets so that they have exactly the same fitted multiple linear regression equation. The method is simple to implement and provides an alternative to generating datasets under an assumed model. The advantage is that, unlike the case for the straight model‐based alternative, parameter estimates from the original data and the generated data do not include any model error. This distinction suggests that ‘same fit’ procedures may provide a general and useful alternative to model‐based procedures, and have a wide range of applications. For example, as well as being useful for teaching, cloned datasets can provide a model‐free way of confidentializing data.  相似文献

For ethical reasons it is important to try to obtain as much useful information as possible from an animal experiment whilst minimizing the number of animals used. Crossover designs, where applicable, provide an ideal framework for achieving this. If two or more treatment factors are included in the crossover design then the reduction in total animal usage can be considerable. In this paper we consider such designs, defined as multi-factor crossover designs. The designs are applicable when there are several different treatment factors, each at t levels, to be applied to the experimental units. The motivation for investigating these designs was a study conducted at GlaxoSmithKline to determine the preference of male and female dogs for t=5 different types of bed and t=5 different bedding conditions. A construction method is given for forming universally optimal designs for t not too large. Also given is an example for the special case where the number of treatment levels t=6.  相似文献

The implications of parameter orthogonality for the robustness of survival regression models are considered. The question of which of the proportional hazards or the accelerated life families of models would be more appropriate for analysis is usually ignored, and the proportional hazards family is applied, particularly in medicine, for convenience. Accelerated life models have conventionally been used in reliability applications. We propose a one-parameter family mixture survival model which includes both the accelerated life and the proportional hazards models. By orthogonalizing relative to the mixture parameter, we can show that, for small effects of the covariates, the regression parameters under the alternative families agree to within a constant. This recovers a known misspecification result. We use notions of parameter orthogonality to explore robustness to other types of misspecification including misspecified base-line hazards. The results hold in the presence of censoring. We also study the important question of when proportionality matters.  相似文献

Two-replicate row–column designs are often used for field trials in multisite tree or plant breeding programmes. With only two replicates for each trial, it is important to use designs with optimal or near optimal efficiency factors. This paper presents an algorithm for generating such designs. The method extends the contraction approach of Bailey and Patterson to any set of parameters and uses the factorial design construction algorithm of Williams and John to generate designs. Our experience with the algorithm is that it produces designs that are at least as good as, and often much better and more quickly generated than, those obtained by other recent computer algorithms.  相似文献
