论八股文的不同品位——兼谈古代文化研究中的实事求是态度

实事求是看,明清八股文存在着“境界八股文”与“功名八股文”的对立。在明清文人的八股文理论中,区别八股文的不同品位成为一个很突出的主题。衡量八股文的首要标准应该看其作者是否文行一致———文的理论与行的实践的统一。明清两代一些有识之士是“境界八股文”的倡导者,也是八股文道德境界的实践者。承认八股文不同品位的客观存在,才能更清晰地认识八股文的有效职能,了解八股取士制度能延续近五百年的根本原因,进而回答中国封建社会何以存在如此长久的问题。

中国出版现代化进程探析

纸和印刷术的发明,说明中国是较早和较有实力实现出版现代化的国家。但是,中国的纸和印刷术输出后,出版技术一直徘徊不前。清末民初出版技术的返销现象,揭示出阻碍中国出版现代化的原因,一是中国封建传统下的政策导向影响;二是以农立国、安于现状、不思进取的中国小农经济形态使然;三是我国编辑职业化滞后,缺乏内动力等等。

将1930年代左翼文学潮流的兴起置于＂民国＂这一社会历史的政治经济研究框架中,可以看到其与民国时期商业出版的经济环境有着十分密切的关系。从此视角出发并结合相关史料,兼以良友图书印刷公司的转变为实例,探寻在与出版业广泛互动的条件下,一度风行文坛进而成为声势浩大＂主潮＂的左翼文学潮流的生成机制。     

The racialized patterns of police violence: The critical importance of research as praxis

The tragic killing of George Floyd at the hands of the police resulted in hundreds of thousands of protestors marching in the streets demanding change. The call for change criticized the killing of Blacks by law enforcement and challenged White supremacy as an institution of social control and racial violence. A key component of the marches and protests was a message to the residents of the United States: “Black Lives Matter.” As society grapples with a reckoning, researchers studying police violence for the past 6 decades have been empirically and theoretically debating the reasons why use of force by law enforcement continues to have a higher proportion of Black and Brown victims compared to Whites. Although the research on fatal police killings was studied by only a small number of individuals prior to 2014, after the killing of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri the research in different areas of the country increased rapidly as did the forms of analysis and research disciplines making their own contributions. The Washington Post and Guardian news agencies established that deaths at the hands of the police were occurring for at least 900 to 1100 individual deaths per year for which firearms resulted in the greatest cause of death. As US government agencies failed to produce a national data source on police involved killings, the media took a leading role in providing greater national understanding. The authors examine what role academic researchers contribute to the discussion for solutions, particularly those from marginalized backgrounds. As protestors march, lawyers sue and defend, and politicians create new forms of legislation, researchers need to play a more important role initiating critical studies, making sense of the data, and providing a theoretical framework for which police violence can be understood. This article will provide an overview of the literature on racialized police violence, point out key patterns involving racial and ethnic disparities, and emphasize how researchers can play a more important role in advocating for change.     

The Conversation of Scholarship

Abstract

At its core, scholarship is a long, threaded, multiparticipant conversation. Scholars, students, librarians, and publishers all are engaged. There are side conversations addressing specific fields and larger conversations asking probing questions about the nature of scholarship as a whole. Librarians’ contributions to the broader conversation have not always accounted for our side conversations, among ourselves or with other participants. Our choices in acquisitions, our choices in services, even our choices in library job titles and responsibilities signal and shape the scholarly conversation in ways that are often opaque. It is imperative that we openly acknowledge the influence and impact of our side conversations to ensure our full participation in the conversation of scholarship.     

Academic Affiliations of Social Work Journal Article Authors from 1999–2003

Abstract

The academic affiliations of the authors of all articles published between 1999 and 2003 in six major social work journals were tabulated to produce a ranking of the colleges and universities whose faculty made the most substantive contributions to the social work literature. The results of this analysis are compared with findings of four identical, previously published studies, which cover the five-year periods of 197–1983, 1984–1988, 1989–1993, and 1994–1998. The limitations of this method of analysis are discussed, as are its merits.

从信息学的角度,阐述了学术期刊的功能,提出了信息学框架下学术期刊评价的质量观,同时构建了基于印刷型与电子型的学术期刊综合评价指标体系,并选择代表基础学科、医学和工程技术这三大类的物理学类期刊、医科大学学报类期刊和机械工程类期刊进行了实证研究,由此验证了学术期刊信息学评价方法及指标体系设置的合理性.
