校园中的英语课外活动

课堂只是英语学习的场所之一,如果能将课堂延伸到其它地点和其它时段,学习效果会大不相同。在大学英语阶段,开展多姿多彩的课外活动就是延伸的一种形式。目前高校扩招、师资紧张的情况更凸显出校园内英语课外活动的重要性和必要性。本文简要分析了课外活动对英语教学的促进作用,并根据自身的实践经验,讨论了如何开展课外活动,以及所应注意的一些问题。

Extracurricular English Activities on Campus

Language learning does not only take place in the classroom, it also occurs in other places and at other times. This latter form of learning can be achieved through diverse extracurricular activities on the campus, which, if well designed and organized, are sure to contribute a lot to facilitating college English teaching and learning. But the potentials of extracurricular activities still remain under tapped. It is now time that due attention was paid to their study. This paper is intended to be part of the effort. It first analyzes the importance and benefits of extracurricular activities from the theoretical point of view, and then discusses their designing and organizing on the basis of the writer's teaching practice in this field.
