Abstract: | Economic analyses rarely consider the importance of the high concentration of Russia's economic and social potential in the hundred so-called regional capitals (administrative centers of constituents of the Federation) and other large cities. This phenomenon, which strongly influences the course of economic, social and even political processes in Russia, is unparalleled in developed countries. It is very important to assess the causes, scale, and consequences of this phenomenon against the overall background of reforms that have occurred in the country's economy in the past fifteen years. |
