论“视觉时代”的阅读

印刷媒体“读图时代”和电子媒体占主导地位的“影像时代”的来临，诠释了正在进行的文化的“视觉转向”——由“语言文化时代”向“视觉文化时代”转变。文化生存的基本形态由文字的阅读转向形象的观看，引起了文化精英的普遍忧虑。文章认为，形象的兴起并不必然地带来理性文化的危机，因为形象同样可以达成对事物的深层认知，形象和语言在很大程度上是互补的。往深处看，语言的衰退也并不就是受形象挤压的结果，文化的审美化才是“视觉时代”必然来临的深层原因，而文化的审美化又是植根于文化个体生存状态改变的历史背景之中的。

On the reading problem at the age of vision

The recent change in culture from the era of culture dominated by language to that by vision has taken place with the arrival of the age of picture and image reading brought by printing and electronic media.It means that the basic form of cultural existence is under change from reading to watching,which has aroused widespread concern among cultural experts.This paper tries to prove that the popularity of images doesn't necessarily give rise to a crisis of rational culture,for cognition can also be attained through images,and,to a rather great extent,images and language are complementary to each other.What's more,the image is not to blame for the decline of language,and the age of vision rises from the tendency towards aesthetics in culture which is deeply rooted in the historical background of ever changing existence of cultural individuals.
