文化的转型一方面要以传统为资源和根据 ,寻求传统的支持 ,另一方面又不能停留在传统价值观上 ,而是要突破和超越传统。只有立足于当代现实生活 ,以社会主义现代化建设和社会主义市场经济的伟大实践为依托 ,对传统文化进行认真的反省、梳理、批判和发掘 ,并进而实现对它的继承和超越 ,才能使传统文化成为社会主义新文化的有机组成部分

Inherit and surmount--The only way of traditional civilization modernize of China

On the one hand the transformation of culture should seek the support of tradition, for tradition is its source and basis; on the other hand it must break and transcend tradition instead of mere adhering to the traditional values. The traditional culture can be transformed into the organic part of socialist new culture only by taking the following measures: taking contemporary reality as its starting point and the practices of socialism modernization construction and socialist market economy as its basis, seriously reflecting, organizing, criticizing and discovering traditional culture, then inheriting and transcending it.
