Economic Structural Transition and Democratization--A case study on South Korea

The interaction of economy and politics in South Korea follows the sequence of authoritarianism-labor and capital intensive economic growth-preliminary establishment of democracy-transition of the way of economic growth-deepening of political transition. Labor and capital intensive economic growth laid the foundation of the preliminary establishment of democratic institution, but there are no inevitable relations between democracy and the way of economic increase. The political and economic structural transition in South Korea was influenced by the economic and political structural change of the whole world. A lot of factors contribute to the relatively faster pace of democratization of South Korea. Economic transition and political transition facilitate each other.
