On the Contrast and Translation of Animal Metaphors in English and Chinese

The meanings of animal metaphors are determined by culture.But due to differences in cultural backgrounds,thinking patterns,traditions,psychology,religions,etc.,the implied meanings of many animal metaphors in English and Chinese are different.So the paper contrasts and analyzes similarities and differences between them in terms of conceptual meaning and pragmatic implication,and some strategies to translate them are also addressed.
