由佛门传灯看古代中国的学术传承系谱

佛教的宗派,和古代中国乃至古希腊的"学派"之间,有很多可以互相发明的地方。根据周叔迦先生的研究可以知道,佛教一经一论乃至一咒法的传承谱,是一种追溯,数代单传的脉络是追溯的结果,实际的传承则应该是树状的系谱,有一些传承没有记载下来。这可以帮助我们换一个角度考察老子、孔子世系差别这桩"公案"。而唐人、宋人所记禅宗的两种血脉谱,萨婆多部两种不同的传承谱,其同、异以及可能的缺环,则有助于启发我们疏通先秦至汉初的儒经传承中的一些问题,如《毛诗》的两种传承,《左传》传承中张苍与贾谊的关系问题,榖梁传承人过少的问题,等等。我们应该重视那些没有被记载下来的传承,为之保留可能性,不能过于凿实,随意拿出土文献来比附有记载的传承。
