On the Economic Development by Erut Battallion in Ili District

Erut Battallion,a part of the garrison troops in Xinjiang in the Qing Dynasty,was set up in 1764 and cancelled in 1938.This Battalion made indelible contributions to the development of economy and national defense in northwest China.This paper explored the economic development by the Mongolian Battallion in northwestern frontier areas in the hope of explicating that they made joint efforts with the local Xinjiang peoples in moving Xinjiang from a relatively backward economy to a relatively developed economy.
