Abstract:Ludwig Andreas Feuerbach, (1804~1872) and al Husain b. Mansur al Hallaj, (858~922), two philosophers of different eras in history, seem to bear no resemblance to each other in terms of any branches of philosophy. For not only were their eras separated by approximately one millennium, but the civilizations that fed them respectively with spiritual nutrients differ from one another. The former came from Germany in the 19th century, a nation with a great number of faithful Christians, while the latter lived in Persia and the Arabian peninsular, a vast region under the rule of Caliphs from the middle 9th century to the 20''s of the 10th century. A Christian from Feuerbach''s motherland and a muslin from where al Hallaj once lived view each other as an infidel. What matters more is the striking difference between them in their world outlooks. Feuerbach is an atheist and a materialist philosopher, while al Hallaj, a Sufi mystic, who advocated pantheism, once called himself a faithful and an orthodox muslin. However distantly apart they are from each other in their individual forms of ideology or world outlook, it is surprising that both interpreted the interrelations between man and deity by amalgamating mankind themselves with their beloved supremes.
