李贽与中国的自由传统

Li Zhi and China's Traditional View of Freedom

To begin with the Pre Qin Period, there appeared the view of Chinese freedom recognized as the Chinese traditional view of freedom. Li Zhi of the later Ming Dynasty broke through this traditions advancing a view of freedom by his own, which was full of the spirit of the modern time. It was an important development giving expression to that the ancient Chinese from the Pre Qin on having in their mind the hope of freedom would be made sure in sense of perception, in reality, and in society, an ideal expectation has been profoundly explained in writings of the Song Ming morals theories of Neo Confucian scholars, especially in Wang Yangming's leaning of conscience, and the appearance of Li Zhi's view of freedom marked the transition of the view of traditional Chinese view of freedom to a modern one; it is a national legacy of culture deserving attention to be put to.
